Naval Academy Flak Exam help please

Hi guys.
I have SH3 patched to 1.4b with SH3Commander and GWX2.0.
I am doing my exams prior to taking to sea in my 1st ever campaign. Obviously I would like to score excellent in all my exams!
In the flak exam though, my gunner regularly manages to shoot down the required 5 planes for a Pass, yet the achievment doesn't appear to register on the mission objectives pad. Several times now, I have been in a situation where my - badly damaged! - sub is being orbited by a solitary burning fighter that refuses to crash despite the damage he has suffered, and the kills up to that point just don't seem to register.
I would like to score Excellent, but Average would do.
Please help.

Welcome aboard!

Since you've done it and it isn't working the simplest way to fix that is to enter the .cfg file and edit it. There was a post here about it, and it resides in your My Documents/SH3 folder, but being at work I don't have the exact link to it. Maybe someone else can help you with it if it is that important to you.

Out of the 5 exercises the flak 1 is defenantly the most enjoyable, i had 3 subs sink and 4 crewman dead or injured on the 4th attempt when i finally passed lol..... flank speed, lots of course changes, and shoot the planes close to you. you need 5 planes listed when you click your K key (just cause 7-9 disappear don't mean you shot them down.... things are so frantic they shoot each other and collide also, but you don't get credit for that. Another tip is to go after the bombers 1st since they do the most severe damage.
GoodLuck Herr wizardmatt persistance will be your best ally in this exercise.

I finally scored "excellent" on that exam, but it was not easy.

Like, 15 subs later, and a lot of luck. :rotfl::rotfl:

woohoo! done it.
i figured out why i was struggling: they kept crashing into each other before i could shoot them down!
in the end i got lucky - the final 2 fighters collided just after my gunner had hit 1 of them, so both were credited as kills.
torpedo exam here i come :D

LOL i have a copy of my preGWX exams I copy that one back each time lot more easy.
