My Silent Hunter III was collecting dust after not being used for years.
When it was released I got one of the first copies just to discover that the game was a nice graphics sim but not much realistic.
Even playing with the max realism after several patrols I had double or triple tonnage than any of the real aces.
The fact that there was no a human controlled DD for the multiplayer made me simply stop playing SHIII.
The other day when I made my regular donation to Subsim, I got a mail from Neal with the links about GWX.
I have to confess I had no clue what GWX means since I have been a bit disconnected from the SH world.
Despite the large download I decided to take a look at the GWX Manual and I have to say I was just speechless :o
I inmediately started the GWX2 download thinking all this cannot be true.
The manual itself is a master piece. Have not seen a WWII Naval Simulator manual like this ever. I am still reading it and I am sure I would do it again.
So I got the GWX2 and I learned it would be good to have as well SH3 Commander. What is this SH3 Commander thing? So I searched and download it. Another excellent add on!!!!!
After installing all the recommended add ons, I launched the game and I just can tell you my Silent Hunter III has been running almost non stop since the last week and I am having the most exciting time on a single player Submarine Sim since ever.
I am still missing madly the multiplayer matches Sub vs DD we could do with SHII and DD and no Sim would be perfect till it does incorporate fully controlled DD for MP matches.
However GWX has renewed my interest for the SH saga and I am having a fantastic time with it.
I am specially interested on the historic realism and this mod have gone great lenghts to improve the stock game.
Have to leave, Watch officer reports masts and smoke on the horizont :arrgh!:
GWX Team, SH3 Commander Team and Neal. THANK YOU!!!!!!! :sunny:
