Thanks for letting us know. It's good stuff, made even more interesting by a shot of my father on the bridge of his ship. The amusing part is that he had nothing to do with the Battle of the Atlantic as his ship was a Landing Assault Ship for invasions and the pictures was taken in the Mediterranean.

I have quite a few of these series, polygram used to do them.

Great series, but won't play in US DVD players.

Can watch them on the computer.

First saw the one on BOB while in London a few years ago.

You can. Just get a TV card install that hook up the cables to your tv, start the movie on your PC and watch on your TV. If you graphics card came with the right cables you wont even need a TV card just hook those cables to your TV.
As for me unless i get one of those 50in flattop televisions then watching movies on my 19in PC monitor is good enough

i need a big ol' flat screen for my computer, yeah!

oh, poop, I forgot, I need a bunch of other things first...... o well.

I agree, the BBC series was very good and included interviews with former u-boat commanders that were still with us in 2002.

Judging only from the title it seems to be a one sided point of view documentary.
Let's see and watch...

The Story of D-Day
The story of D-Day has been re-told in dramas such as Saving Private Ryan. But what really happened on Omaha Beach in June 1944? What was it like for the men who had to fight their way ashore here - and how did they manage to win when so much seemed to go so wrong?

U 864
In February 1945, one of the most dramatic chases in the history of naval warfare took place in the North Atlantic. The German submarine U 864 loaded with some of the latest Messerschmitt jet engine parts and missile guidance systems headed its way to Japan. Unknown to them, one of the Royal Navy’s most advanced hunter submarines, the Venturer, already lay in wait. After a three hour chase through the icy waters off the Norwegian coast, the Venturer fired four torpedoes and sunk U 864. To hit a target that was submerged was a feat that had never been achieved in the history of submarine warfare.

To hell for Hitler
A dramatized documentary following the experiences of Henry Metelmann, a German soldier caught up in the most destructive conflict in history - Hitler's invasion of Russia. The film travels the route that Metelmann and his fellow soldiers took and sees how the choices he made meant he emerged from the war a brutalised man. The film is Metalmann's confession delivered in mostly dramatised scenes from his life at war, intercut with archive clips and contemporary reflections.

Dog Fights WW 1
World War I saw the birth of a new type of combat: the dogfight. Aces from almost every nation take canvas and wire bi-planes into battle and pioneer new tactics. German ace Ernst Udet goes 1 v. 1 with Georges Guynemer. Werner Voss takes on an entire squadron of British aces...and American ace Arthur Raymond Brooks finds himself in the dogfight of his life. State-of-the-art computer graphics, first-hand accounts, rare archival footage and original shooting will help to make the viewer feel like they're in the battle, facing the enemy.
