It was not long ago I had listened to the Book on Tape of “The Bravest Man: The Story of Richard O’Kane and the US Submarines in the Pacific War by William Tuohy. This is a great book if you have not read it yet. Anyway, this made me bring out my old WIN 95 computer, and playing the original Silent Hunter. It was not long before I purchased SH3, then SH4 to run on XP. It was about this time I discovered the Subsim Website.

This is a great website, and kudo’s for all those who have contributed through the years. I had an opportunity to finish reading 2007 Submarine Almanac about 1 month ago while waiting 6hr for my delayed flight. Thanks for all of the contributors, I really enjoyed the book.

I do have a some questions for those in the know.
1.I have installed GWX2.0 without problems. It is a great mod. What added mods due those in the know suggest to add to GWX2? SH3Cmdr27? SH3Weather? etc, etc.

2. I had purchased “Seawolves, Submarines on the Hunt for SH3” by Evolved Games? Do any of you have any experience of using this mod, or possibly adding it to GWX2.0? I have not installed it yet, having just installed the GWX2.0, but thought many here would know more of the specifics.

3. Probably because I have not gone far enough into SH3 to know, but do you experience the rough water in the North Atlantic I have seen so many pictures of? Some of the submarine art of action in the North Atlantic is something I hope to experience.

4. Many of you have great art logo’s with your signature. How do you make such art??

Have a Great Year Subsimers

ill jump in on a couple of your questions...

1. the SH3 mods section of the forum has some great advice on mods and additions to the game... you might begin your search there.

2. avoid seawolves like the plague i have heard... besides, it is not compatible with GWX2 that i am aware of.

3. You do encounter rough weather and waves in SH3, but the highest they get is barely enough to swamp the conning tower at times.

1 sh3 commander is definitely useful, has some nice features for customization

3 Oh yes, sometimes for weeks on end

4 just cobble something together in photoshop or similar porgram, there's a sticky in the forum rules about the size then add it to your signature using:

http:// link to picture here only substitute [ and ] for < and >

As i understand it matey, seawolves is put out (published?) by X1 software, who essentially stole mods directly from the net without the creators' permission, packaged them up and sold them.

Very very good idea to avoid them! try taking the ex-pack back to the store if it is, someone can confirm it.

As for the other questions,
well 1 i cant answer as i've not played it, 3 - well, if you've a queasy stomach, dont stand on the bridge at 1x TC during a storm.:dead:

Many thanks for the recommendations. I am going back to the mods forum as I type.
