I have a question about allocating crew to compartments. I seen threads that say by simply double clicking a compt it will staff it with the necessary crew. Doesn't seen to work for me as I cam only drag and drop the guys where I need them. Also will moving your crew to the fwd or aft compt actually help in diving or surfacing the boat and staffing both elect and engine compt help speed up the transition?

it should put the minimum crew in the compartment if you double click on the text which spells the name of the compartment.

Another thing... the task of moving the little men into each little spot can be tedious and if your not exact your man will poof right back to the crew quarters... all you have to do is drag the man to an empty officer icon in the compartment and he will automatically be placed in the next available crew spot within that compartment.

Ok, I think I've got the hang of it now. Other question still remains, Does moving your crew around help trim the boat and manouver it?

i dont think the weight of the crew is accounted for in SH3... im going to go with NO.

if you want to try this out put all of your crew in forward compartments... whil;e sitting on the surface stopped.

Order a crash dive and start your clock, when the last part of the boat is submerged stop the clock.

now repeat the process with the crew spread about all over the boat and see if you notice any change of more than 4 or 5 seconds.

i doubt you will notice a difference

would be nice...but i would really like more crew available everywhere...so if your aft sleeping quarters floods you can get the poor sods out of there....they don't have to show up but could they at least keep from dieing...

if you move them to other quarters or put them on the repair detail they wont die. the repair team counts as a compartment in this situation
