Man Says MP3 Player He Bought 10-Year-Old Daughter for Christmas Was Preloaded With Porn

A father gave his 10-year-old daughter a Christmas present that would make Santa blush.

Now Daryl Hill wants to know why an MP3 video player he bought at a Wal-Mart in Sparta was preloaded with pornography and explicit songs.

Hill bought three of the players as Christmas presents for his children. He said one of the devices had apparently been returned to the store from a previous owner who loaded sex clips and songs with lyrics about using drugs.

"Within 10 minutes, my daughter was crying," Hill said Thursday. "I wish I could take the thoughts and images out of her head."

Hill questioned why Wal-Mart Stores Inc. would sell used merchandise as new, which he said violates its own policies.

A company spokesman said in an e-mail to WSMV-TV of Nashville that stores are not supposed to return opened packages to the sales floor and that the matter was under investigation.

Hill said he declined Wal-Mart's offer to replace the MP3 player. He said he has already bought his daughter a new one and is hanging onto the controversial one until he talks to a lawyer.

I'll bet POP'S showed it to every male buddy he's got.

Seriously I know one Wal-Mart employee caually and she's not the "Sharpest Knife in the Drawer ".

So during Xmas a popular item got taken off backroom shelf by a simular above posted employee and sold to that guy.

He bought it knowing it had been opened.

I'm most curious as to what kind of porn is it that made the girl cry. Hardcore SM?

Or is just that the girl was particularly sensitive, or particularly indoctrinated. Or is the crying all about the realization the MP3 wasn't brand new?

I mean, sure it is bad that this happened, but what kind of naked body were shown to make anyone cry...

Laws are one thing, reality is another. Before my current job I worked as salesman in an electronic chain shop, a huge one. It was regular policy to put items that were not obviously broken back into the shelf and being sold as "new", which violated not only company policies (those being told tpo the public at least), but broke legal laws. Also, every morning stickers saying something like "Tip", "Top-selling item", "test victor" were distributed to the shelves arbitrarily, depending on the number of items on stock as the manager saw them on his PC screen. the things usually were neither somebody'S tip nor selling well nor had they won any kind of testing. I do not buy items "sealed" by scotch tape, only original producer's seals, or packages shrink-wrapped by machinery, not by hand.

Was a bad job anyway, I left after just six weeks.

Hey now. If you've never seen that sort of stuff it can sure confuse (and thereby upset) the hell out of you. Not to overblow the "virgin mind" thing, but try to see it from a sheltered 10-year-old's perspective. :p

You'd be surprised, but many young children react to images of interacting couples like that kid did. for kids around 4 or 5 it even is the regular norm, I woild say. For their minds it are just images of strange biological violance, or so it appears to them. To hear a woman moan in pleasure or a man as well is a sign of pain and suffering for them, and thus indicates a situation of harm and danger.

Terrible story but Kaptain Phillips that is funny lol....I can relate to the chilli Wenedy's finger as well as the porn thing....I had fell asleep on the couch one evening and the wife came home and yelled at me I jumped up and said what? and my daughter was about 7 at the time and the wife said 2 lesbos were lip lapping on each other on a program and my daughter was watching it....My bad indeed...here in AZ many adult programs come on as early as 8pm because at times there is a 3 hour difference where they are brodcast from so 11pm in New York is fine adults hour but here in AZ the HBO/Skinemax etc have many adult programs already on...

Dat suked....not just because of her seeing it that way but because I missed the program....no just kidding ;) .....kids will find out soon enough about this stuff either from naked tribesmen/women in national geographics or dads Busty's and Penthouse....to me it is nature nothing more but sex gets twisted by man.

Education by parents is what is key as well as Wal-Mart keeping it's head out of it's buttocks.

Be Fruitful and Multiply was the command. :)

Pron is goooood, mmmkay?I would have to disagree. Porn is a tool of the devil to pollute people's minds.

A tool of the devil used to pollute peoples minds? with images of the key to lifes existence??? Seriously, people exist because of sex, and it is our sole biological goal. Hardly corrupting...

I dont go out of my way to watch porn, some stuff i've heard is pretty bad by my standards, but hey, its a natural act.

As a 10 year old, i didnt know what sex was, this kid could well be traumatised depending on what was on the video/s. but im sure it wont scar her for life...

It is the key of life. But it is a holy thing that should not be misused. With things like pornography.

Before checking in with subsim for the first time in 2008 (hapy new year everyone  ) I was reading about this story elsewhere.
Here's what the first speaker had to say:
Putting SMUT on returned digital media devices = good idea
I read today how a child's new MP3 player came loaded with smut (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/12/31/loaded_mp3_outrage/).
After giggling a bit at the thought of this and also being reminded of the cinema scene in Fight Club (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0137523/parentalguide) I remembered when I returned a DSLR camera which had a hot pixel on the sensor.

"Within 10 minutes, my daughter was crying,"

I got an email some weeks later from a lady who had bought a camera for her husband and wondered why all the photos they shot were being copyrighted to me - I explained the item had been returned as faulty and the franchise camera shop had resold it as a brand new product instead of marking it as either refurbished or returned.

"I wish I could take the thoughts and images out of her head."

I think what this guy did was more than likely an oversight but perhaps he had experienced a similar incident when buying a product in the past and wanted to make sure he got his own back on the store by returning the item with "some materials" loaded onto it ? I know this kind of action is morally wrong but it would teach these shops to stop be stingy and not resell the item as a new product...
