I said a while back that nuke power was becoming a more accepted idea again, especially in the US. Now the UK is following suite:

I have to say I've always preferred nuclear power to the godawful coal-powered plants. I wouldn't say it's exactly a good idea (put it to you this way: I am personally affected by Chernobyl fallout), but it's sure as hell the lesser evil than those carbon-guzzlers.:hmm:

I agree. Lowest hamrful effect on the environment possible.
Sorry to hear about your CHernobyl issues. I take it you know people who were affected? Hopefully it is not your personally.
Chernobyl can't be taken as a factor though in hampering progress in this area. CHernobyl was built with no safegaurds, nothing. Western world nuke reactors have to be capable of melting down like CHernobyl without any fallout if a disastor occurs. That is what the large containment facilities are for. Chernobyl had none of this, and I hear it is operating again without safegaurds?

With no solution to the oil crisis this is a logical step in order to slow down the drain on oil, we have no choice in the matter.

There is no shortage of coal. America is sitting on mountains of it. Just that its an ugly dirty fuel source and it is the main cause of 80% of the rise in global warming that humans are responsible for.

In are case we are importing coal and North Sea gas is a joke and yes we are importing gas as well.
