The Luftwaffe actually managed to save my ass today. I was on patrol in the Med and came a little to close to an enemy port, got detected and before I knew it 6 DD's where hunting me down hard, already has some severe floodings and thought I wouldn't make it until suddenly the DD's were under attack by the Luftwaffe, it gave me the oppertunity to slip away and survive.
Didn't know that was possible.
Yep sometimes they come without calling but if you call in a contact report and there is a Luftwaffe base within range they may come as well. They are not always welcome though Hermann's fluffy-booted flyboys sometimes steal your renown just as you are about to sink a juciy target they appear out of nowhere and make the kill that you have just spent hours lining up.
Your just luckily old HG's fly boys were passing by. ;)
Fuzz or fluffy boots, airplanes who attack the enemy can't be all bad :D

Congratulations! Your the first person I know to have Herr Goerings flyboys help you out, instead of just flying past and ignoring you.

Is there any way to tell where the air bases are located?

If you open up the .LND file (from the Campaign folder) in the mission editor, you can see all the land installations, including the air bases.

I'm a little lost!!!
If I open my mission Editor folder, all that is shown is either "Icons" or "Locations".
If I open the campaign file it shows " Campaign_LND.mis" . Is that the one I'm looking for? If so what program do I need to open it up so I can view it?

Yep Campaign_LND.mis is the one
To see it you will need the mission editor
You can open the file in notepad

The yellow circles are the radius range of each airbase
The LND contains all naval bases\cities\gun emplacements as well as air bases so tis a bit hard to see the wood for the trees sometimes

i saw this in the med near malta
A little convoy of two destroyers and two cargo, i was ready for the attack but the destroyers spoted my periscope and started an depth charge attack.
two big planes (fw-condors ..perhaps) dropped some bombs to the merchants, damaging one, later three waves of stukas finished the convoy, including the destroyers.

Just think of all that renown you lost to those flyboys.........:nope:
A pair of them took care of an armed trawler for me in the channel, very nice to watch.

As long as they do their job (sink escorts that force me to divide my attention away from more valuable targets), they die for a good cause. Dying for a good cause is called heroism.
:yep: Jep, the Luftwaffe has a lot of heroism
