Is this thing any good? A friend popped by and said he's done with it and left it here. Said he liked it, but he didn't sound too enthused. Isn't this the one that used the physics board?

well if you like enemies that can spot you as soon as you show 1 cm of your helmet and hit you with the 2 first shots at long range
aye..then its good

I've read alot of online reviews about this game never brought it tho yet i should as i was a big fan of Ghost Recon 1 and its expansion packs. From the reviews its a highly rated shooter also has a co-op mode option for the campaign if im right but that might be for the xbox version. Also from what ive read in some missions the game can bring a highend PC to its knees.

Anyway if you decide to play it, lets us know whats its like.

hi,

It's alright, the AI goes from one really stupid one minute to god-like intelligence and accuracy the next.

One big issue if your running on the PC is the in-game FMV's and cutscences don't like the newest graphic drivers. I didn't some research on the net about it and apparantly the shadow rendering in the videos screws up and therefore the vid's wont play. It had to use 9x.xx series NVidia driver to play the game so you may need to roll back your driver, although i haven't tried it with the latest (169.XX)

Its below average in my book. The comments above are right - show 2 cm of your head - even before you get your eyes over a slope, and expect a bullet in it. This makes sniper rifles worthless since range doesn't matter to the super AI. Matter of fact, taking anything but an XM8 with combat sights is pretty much worthless.

The AI is OK in places, and incredibly stupid in others. You order your guys to do something, and sometimes they take the long route for no reason, right past 50 enemies and of course death. They become stuck at times where they refuse to move. This can be fixed by running up behind them and pushing them till they get a clue.

My biggest pet peeve - your guys can tick you off to no end. Slowly going around a door, and your guys behind you get all excited and push you out into the open and instant death!!!!:-?

My thoughts on the difficulty - if you didn't have to try the same scene 50 times due to getting killed in stupid manners, it would probably take you a couple hours to go through the game. The levels are incredibly small. This is why the super shot AI - you'd roll right through it is it were real humans down there playing for the AI.

Don't bother with it.

it depends on what you like..i like it a lot, most people get it ( but not all) thinks its going to be a call of duty or doom, something like that where you exchange fire run to a med pack and heal up and become disappointed or frustrated in the game.... its just not meant to be that kind of game... you have to think like its real and play the game as you would if it was your tail on the line... if you played and like the other ghost recon games you'll more than likely like this. if you want to trot down the middle of the street popping bad guys off left and right with very little thinking look for something other than ghost recon..

question
Isn't this the one that used the physics board?

it will use a physics board if you have one but it is not necessary to have one to play...
