You need to play via SH3 Commander for the changes to take effect http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

Then you must have a faulty file somewhere....it works fine in my installation http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif
could it be in SH3 cmdr or is it a faulty SH3 files ?

Hard to tell.....but I suspect it won't be SH3 Commander :hmm:

:hmm: , did you rollback the Cmdr before launching your Med campaign? When playing 2 or more campaigns itīs possible to get out of sync if you forget to rollback before switching between the Atlantic and the Med. At least yours truly have managed that, twice:oops: Try rolling back and then check the Backup folder in your Sh3Cmdr folder, make sure its empty, and then load your campaign from the Cmdr. Should work.

Didn't GWX2.0 have the option to load both Atlantic and Med campaign-data?
I can't check, cause I've been to busy to even have a glimpse at the new GWX.

Using JSGME you can have either the Black Sea or Indian Ocean Campaigns installed separately or you can combine the two together using the Merged Campaign option. http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

It actually has the option to have the Black Sea, Indian Ocean campaigns, or the whole war at once: the default is the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. The Black Sea and Indian Ocean missions do not use the Mediterranean water.
We tried to make sure the individual missions had the right water type, so please let us know if you think they do not.
Thanks! :)

This has nothing to do with water colour and such - the water is not controlled by the contents of the campaign files; it's controlled by separate files which SH3Cmdr toggles depending on what flotilla you are in. (23/)29 Flot careers should get Med water regardless of campaign files loaded.
And this is something else to remember: if you're in say, 1 Flot and decide to go looking in the Med, you will still get Atlantic water. Conversely, if you are in (23/)29 Flot and decide to go into the Atlantic, you'll still get Med water. One of SH3's limitations that can't be easily overcome through modding.
FYI SH3Cmdr also forces Arctic water textures when you're in 11 Flot. ;)

I see...thx.
But now this one: let's say I depart from Bergen - July'44, in a XXI - and head for the Med.
How to get the correct water-colours?

Pretty pointless, the 23/29 are only based at Toulon until August 44....and as already stated by JS, you keep the water you commence your patrol with, regardless of theatre http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

I've been thinking about this some more....'cause I want to try a XXI-career, and take her all the way from Bergen into the Med, and play around a little.
If I play it smart on fuel-economy, it should be fine.
So you guys are saying that you will keep the water-colours from your loaded Atlantic career, when you enter the Med.
Ok, so how about this:
- start from Bergen, head towards Gibraltar
- save&exit game before entering the straight, and rollback SH3C.
- make a copy of ...data\Env\EnvColors_Med.dat
- rename it to EnvColors_Atl.dat, and make it JSGME-compatible
- enable the mod
- enter the Med with the correct water-colours!
- when re-entering the Atlantic, repeat the other way around, to get correct Atl.colours again.
Would this work, or would I break anything?:hmm:

A question suddenly occurs to me: I like to run concurrent careers out of available flotillas. Will the system take this into account for each career, or am I asking for trouble?

Don't forget SkyColors_*.dat. ;)
But why go that far downstream? Looking further upstream provides a solution that merely results in two line changes in one small text file. Simply open ..\SilentHunterIII\data\Env\Env.cfg and look for the EnvColors and SkyColors blocks. Then follow my instructions below...
...
[EnvColors]
SeaType00=EnvColors_Atl.dat <-- change "Atl" to either Med or Arct
SeaType80=EnvColors_Med.dat
SeaType150=EnvColors_Arct.dat
[SkyColors]
SeaType00=SkyColors_Atl.dat <-- change "Atl" to either Med or Arct
SeaType80=SkyColors_Med.dat
SeaType150=SkyColors_Arct.dat
You can enable your modified files via JSGME, or add the lines to SH3Cmdr's Static settings.cfg where you can alternate as you please. Because I like utilising the most out of SH3Cmdr, I'd do it this way if for no other reason than to avoid the need to maintain duplicate files and another mod set:
[data\Env\Env.cfg]
;Remove ; when wanting Med water
;EnvColors|SeaType00=EnvColors_Med.dat
;SkyColors|SeaType00=SkyColors_Med.dat
;Remove ; when wanting Arct water
;EnvColors|SeaType00=EnvColors_Arct.dat
;SkyColors|SeaType00=SkyColors_Arct.dat
But whatever's easiest for you. ;)
EDIT: You could perhaps even get away with just changing the DefaultSeaType setting to 8 (Med) or 15 (Arct), but I haven't tried this approach.
DISCLAIMER: I can't imagine why this wouldn't work mid-patrol, but having never tried it myself, I say attempt at own risk.

Yeah, open SeaInf.bmp and you'll see where each "zone" applies.
From my understanding of the Env files, I also can't see any reason why more zones couldn't be added, say one specific to the BS, one specific to SE Asia and so on. All that seems to be required is an edit to the SeaInf.raw file and the creation of new unique Env/Sky Color files. It seems Env.cfg is the controller for the appropriate colour file selection (albeit broken), so add in a tool like SH3Cmdr to kick it right again and voila...no more Atlantic sea off the coast of Penang. ;)

The Med.:up: Best place for me at the moment, last night came across a taskforce, yet couldn't even get near the battleships (2) sunk one escort and stayed deep for the rest of the night while avoiding depthcharges.
