Decided to install SH3 again to crunch some cravings ive been having. Problem is i cant seem to get my AA working through my video card. Ive tried all possible settings in my control panel and AA will not work. I am also using the resolution dll for 1280x1024. It has worked before i upgraded to a 8800gts with my 7800gtx. I cannot play without AA.
Any ideas? thanks...

Hi raz, Welcome to Subsim.:arrgh!:

Unfortunately, SH3 and the 8000 series (specifically the 8800 series) Nvidia cards do not play well together with SH3 on all occasions.

Though I cannot speak for the high resolution settings you are using, you can experiment using different drivers available here: http://www.nvidia.com

No worries mate. For every one of us here there is at least one issue or another that we just have to learn to live with.

On the "up" side... at least we have SH3 to enjoy. Its full of quirks... and they take some time to learn... but there is nothing like it for now.

Hi raz,

yes, there is a problem with the 169.21 driver. It will not detect shIII. Try use "add new program" in the control panel or use an older 8800 driver. You can then activate and deactivate AA by using "shift page up" and "shift page down". You need that to get rid of white flashes on the horizon during night time.

I have the same setup:

GWX 2.0
8800gts 320mb
forceware 169.21

and the same prob. to get AA to work. I worked around it by making the settings in the global settings, everything works OK.
Will try the add new program tip, did not think of that:oops:

edit. The 163.75 driver did not have this problem. edit.

A better way to change video driver options is by using a 3rd party tweaker program like Riva Tuner. In the global drivers setting use a low AA setting like 2x (or maybe 4x). there is an extended option called "Anti Aliasing Setting", make it use "Supersampling". Now fire up the game and see if AA is working. If it did, please let us know.

Yes, "add new program" in the nVidia control panel using the 169.21 driver works fine. I reset the global settings to default, added Sh3.exe to program settings and made my choices and it works. Until the next driver release...

I have a different problem... I have a dell latitude d820 laptop, with a nvidia quadro m120 graphics chipset. also known as a 7400 go.

I'm using vista, and I've tried lots of different video driver versions and I seem to get huge texture corruption when I turn on AA

Basically half the objects in the game flicker wildly with static, with maybe 2 frames in 10 being ok and the others being mainly black and white static.

Has anyone else seen this?

http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/windows_vista_hotfixes_uk.html

Take a look at these hotfixes from Microsoft, for Vista. At least the 940105 might help you. But read up on them first. It might also be a problem with your graphics card. I had black artefacts stretching across the screen and that proved to be a faulty card, not the drivers.

Thanks for the info, I'll try the hotfix but I doubt if that is it. The graphics are 100% fine and smooth with AA disabled, and the in-game AA works fine but it chops the resolution back to 1024x768 which isn't pretty.
