I've noticed that alot of you guys on here use a certain u-boat number ( historical I assume ) and I was wonderin' ... do you guys just " ADOPT " one or does someone issue you a u-boat ...

Is there a list of whats bein' used on here or does it even matter ... I mean I wouldn't want a u-boat # thats bein' used by someone else ...

Maybe this is just ramblein's from an idiot that thinks WAY to much :hmm:

Thanks

Heh heh. That would probably only be an issue if we were all playing SH3 online in a common cyber-Atlantic somehow. Sadly, that concept has yet to be. However, there are some who submit their patrol results individually to an internet 'Bdu' and campaign that way.

Thanks for a reply ...

I just didn't wanna step on any toes when I decide the u-boat I want to take command of ( virtual cyber historically ) is actully used by another member on here

There were quite a few U-Boats which had their production cancelled or only projected. U.491-U.493, U.494.-U.500, U.684-U.700, U.723-U.730 for starters. No one should object to those. ;)

Actually...here's a more complete list...

VK, do you use SHIII Commander, you can pick a number from there, or create your own, I use several numbers for different types of boats, try a customized sub emblem to give your boat a different look. Puts:up:

You feel free to choose any number you desire Kaleun

I'm sure that's what most people do.....either that or let the game allocate you one on the commencement of each career :arrgh!:

Long ago, while waiting for SH2, a Wolf Pack League was started, and members could pick and register a boat number to identify with for future play, and we did wait a very long time for it. I'm kind of fond of my old crew of the U-38.

They are not our boats, anyway; they are Uncle Karl's. You are free to champion any boat you might like.

I let SH3 commander choose a number for my U-boat.

In GWX 1.03 I was in command of U-202.

In Summer I visited Laboe and Möltenort memorial. In Möltenort, all the lost subs and the lost crewmembers of both WWs are on two big walls. There I found U-202 too. IIRC they made it to 1942 before the boat was sunk with all hands. I was thinking if I would get as far as the real skipper did. A VERY chilling experience. So many boats, so many names.

Unfortunatly I just discovered, that I MIGHT (I really hope I`ll find another CD) have lost all my pics later than march as I might have NOT burned all pics before system upgrade, otherwise I would have posted a pic of the memorial plate for U-202. :damn:

Oh well, Laboe and Möltenort is only 25 km from here, time for another trip.

btw. I always accept the boat I`m assigned to, only if it`s a famous one, then I alter the number.

I'm gonna ADOPT U-35 for my boat if no-one cares ...

Thanks for the in-put gents
