Now that I have a modern computer, SH4 has been re-installed on my computer:cool: . The game looks great. Help me pimp my SH4 out. The last time I played SH4, I was very dissapointed with its shortcomings. It seems like the mods have fixed the AI issues. Did the torpedo speed issues ever get fixed? At times it's hard to tell, because if you are historically accurate, the US had crappy torps, so in the game, it is difficult to tell if the problem is a "programming" problem or historical accuracy.
What's the difference between the "Trigger Maru" mod and the "Real Boat" mod? Sorry, for the dumb questions, but I've been out of the SH4 world for a while.

Hey nikimcbee,
I'll speak to Trigger, someone else here can answer to the rest. I have used it sine the beginning and it is a great one. It vastly improves the AI, I especially like the air AI as you can be up to 150ft submerged on a caml day and still get bombed.
The DD AI is great, I use the Prolonged DC mad on top of this as well :arrgh!:
As well there are additional campaign start dates, and even an option for New Construction which is nice for immersion.
Having said all of this, you should do a couple of installs and try RFB or RSRD :yep:, of note you can also install RSDC over Trigger,
Hope some of this helps. Others I am sure will add to this  Plus try out some of FF great skins and all of the available radio mods as well.

RDP got it right - although there is one mod that is a necessity no matter if you choose TM or RFB. GET ROW!!!! While its "only" eye candy type things - let me say that it shows very well WHY eye candy is a necessity for a game of this type - I can almost smell land when I play and have to take a break! *Isn't it weird - its called the smell of the sea - but its really the smell of land???*

most of the mods run on 1.5 which I believe is the Uboat addition to sh4. There are however versions of a great deal of the mods available if you are running 1.4.
You were asking about mods, there are several supermods and the two in my opinion that I see most talking about and running are called RFB (Real Fleet Boat) and TMO (Trigger Maru Overhauled). There are others as well you may find under download sections but these 2 are the only ones im familiar with to any extent. In my opinion TMO offers harder ai vs. RFB but that is no slight to RFB its just my opinion.
Ill leave u to form your own opinion on them both as some swear by either. They are both great in their own right.
If you dont have the uboat addon for sh4 u may download it pretty cheap from I believe direct2drive and maybe other sites as well but I used the former.
Good luck
