Quick question, and probably a stupid one, but which of these two video cards should I choose for my newest computer build - an ATI Sapphire X1650 (256 MB) or an NVidia Geforce 6600 (512 MB). Assume that price is not an issue - only performance, especially in regards to SHIII and SHIV. I assume either will run SHIII fine though.:88)

How about neither.

No - I might upgrade later, but right now I just need to know which one is the better of the two.

If you want to see why I post the above post of neither - this should answer your question:

Notice, the two cards you talk about are listed in blue - try near the bottom of the page.

PS. i forgot to mention that this pathetic score is only at 1024x768 resolution. Trust me, pay an extra $20 and buy a better board.

Ah, I see.:o Well, I'll just stick with the ATI X1650 I got for free from my insurance company (house flooded over summer, long story) since it seems to be the better of two crappy cards from what I see so far. I could have gotten a brand new 6600 for $49 Canadian, but I guess it's not really worth it since I have the slightly better card already.:hmm:

I'd say you do.

The x1650 probably does SHIV fine at a lower resolution.

PS. Buy a second one and put it in there. Then run it in crossfire more. That might be an OK setup for a while.

Notice how much better crossfire mode is with 2x x1650 in the same box:

That is decent performance actually for most games with all detail on. Oblivion is a little harsh, but something like SHIV or even a game like FEAR will run at over 30 fps on that.
