Quitting smoking is what causes the depression, not necessarily the anti-smoking drug.

"Depressed mood may be a symptom of nicotine withdrawal. Depression, including suicidal ideation and suicide attempt, has been reported in patients undergoing a smoking cessation attempt. These symptoms have also been reported while attempting to quit smoking with Champix. Clinicians should be aware of the possible emergence of significant depressive symptomatology in patients undergoing a smoking cessation attempt, and should advise patients accordingly."

Well I'll say this, I used Chantix when i quit smoking and I think it did help.

This should be new news? Running low on nicotine can cause depression?It is two decades old. At least. We already learned that in the early 90s.

I wonder though if this Chantix maybe also can cause depression. Which would be a totally different thing.

I miss my 20 a day cigars,not. :p

Gave up some years ago and never looked back.
