An interesting article: http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1694814,00.html?cnn=yes

The amount of carbon stored in tropical forests is staggering — Brazil alone has nearly 50 billion tons — and its loss would ensure dramatic climate change. Scientists estimate that without a change in business as usual, more than half of the Amazon forest would be logged by 2030, releasing 20.5 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
Wow... Think I'll plant a few more trees around the house...

Wow... Think I'll plant a few more trees around the house... I half-remember a piece on reforestation saying that tree-planting is useless on a large scale if you're planting them anywhere but the Equator.

Sorry :p

I recall reading something similar... I wish I could find the link that showed the animation of the "breathing cycle" of the Earth...

[EDIT] Found it: http://geo.arc.nasa.gov/sge/casa/casa5.gif

This site is pretty cool: http://www.breathingearth.net/

My planting is more psychological. It eases my conscious about some beautiful pieces of Honduran mahogany furniture I have... ;)
