Vista is the main reason i have not brought myself a laptop yet. As all the one's i see only come with vista. Though i need one before i deploy to Iraq next year or i will be board out of my brain.

I'm pretty sure you can buy a Dell notebook without Vista and opt for XP in stead. My sister did that about six months ago.

I been working on these for years and you might have a look at apples laptops...they are really sweet and dependable.

Speaking of Vista. On Sunday MS tried to push XP service Pack three to my computer. I stopped it as soon as I realized it was SP3 (I had to sign a digital agreement).

What is SP3 all about? Should I allow the install? Is it Vista in disguise? What functionality will I loose and what functionality am I giving to someone else.

I have many questions but none of my searches have yeilded much. Does anyone know a good place to look for the answers?

SP3 is supposed to be very good but I suggest you do your research first.

From what I am reading SP3 is not out to the general public just yet. You must be part of MSDN or somthing.

I dont know how you got the RC but it did come out on their download servers. They are warning people so I HIGHLY doubt it automatically downloaded.
