I haven't been playing for a while, but decided to get back on board with the launch of GWX2.0.

Snuck into Lerwick Sub Base in an early patrol, just because, you know, there was this
British!
Sub!
Base!

I was disappointed to find only a resupply ship (which we promptly destroyed). But following my torpedo to the target with the external cam, I spied this and nearly wet my pants with joy: (or could it be just way too much coffee?)

I was astounded to be looking at what I think is a British T-class sub.

I am not sure if this enemy sub mod has been around, or if it is new to GWX2, but regardless, the modders responsible should be lined up, patted on the back, hugged, pelted with floral bouquets, and pretty much adored & worshipped, etc.
(I don't know why there is no smiley for adored & worshipped.)

To top it all off, as we were sneaking back out of the base, I got to enjoy having the shore batteries fire directly over my periscope and right into the destroyer that had begun stalking us.

Crew that was firing shore battery was looking like ...
And me and my crew were looking like ... :yep: and also ... :rotfl:

Really an all around good day!

(Only thing that could top this off is if those subs start moving around figure out how to shoot torpedoes at me...)

someone is working on the AI torpedo trcik... problem is the torpedo travels at like 100 knots IIRC... there is a thread about it in the mod forum

I think that qualifies as a good day:up:

That would be a bit of an advantage.

I saw the video with the PT boat launching a torpedo. That was impressive, but I guess it only works with the ship pointing north because the torpedoes always spawn pointing due north.

I sure hope they can get it working.

Great pics.. I think i'll hit up that sub base on my return from AM19 if i have any fish left. I've sailed near it a few times but I think a visit is due. :arrgh!:

reading further in his post i thought he said he was able to incorporate them into some sort of turret which could be hidden from view that would fire the torpedo in any direction. still has the speed issue though.

There are in fact T Classes out there running around too! I was crossing the North Sea the other night, and sonar starting reporting a warship off my Stbd side. I was barely able to get the scope to intermittantly lock on, and damned if it wasn't a T Class...!!

Unfortunatly, I was on a classified mission, delivering a German agent to the coast of Ireland (in my WaW Career)...and was unable to engage him.

I just HAD to get a closer look, so I jumped outside and flew over to take a peek...and the rascal was running with decks awash!! Truely a very cool thing to see, with the front turrent going in and out of the water! I think I took a screenie, (if so)..when I get home later this evening, I'll post it here

The T class has a submerged displacement of 1500 tons, (slighlty bigger than a IXD2 i think) better tonnage than some warships LMAO! :D
