Hi everyone,

Since patch 1.4 i experience some problems with time compression.
When my crew gives a visual contact (or sound contacts show up) the game does not automatically come out of time compression.
Even after installing TM for patch 1.4 this problem remains.
Anyone have an idea about this?

Thanks and regards,
fvd

Ok, i can understand the situation on small boats but i noticed that i don't drop out of TC even with larger ships like split freighters and this can't be normal i think...

The mystery remains (for the time being that is).

...after I enabled RSRD and have subsequently disabled it. I'm not sure if RSRD was the problem I'm just working on the process of elimination.
Are you running any mods?

I have only experience with no TC drop when passing sanpans/junks. I have even checked to make sure I was not TC past large ships. Seems ok to me.

Only TM for the new patch...

I have the same problem after installing Sober's Supermod 1.4.2, which includes RSRD + RFB mods.
The game doesn't come out of time compression no matter which object was spotted by the wachtmen. Yesterday I almost missed large convoy east of Luzon :cry: fortunately I managed to pause the game manually...
I'll appreciate any advice.

Do the ships show up on the map and the game doesn't come out of TC or are you just not seeing anything?

There's a report from the watch and the ships (for a second...) show up on the navigation map, but the game just doesn't come out of TC...
So I use maximum x1024 TC, watching carefully the map to notice any contact to pause the game in time.
The time compression works correctly when I received orders by radio, or when an aircraft is spotted. Game slows down to 1x or 8x, as it should be.
So it only doesn't work for the ships detected.

Experiencing same issue in vanilla SH4 with 1.4 patch. No mods installed.

I use TM, RSRDC and the TC do not stop for small neutral ships like Sampans, etc. TC is reduced to 8x for friendly warships and stops at normal for enemy ships. If you use surface radar the TC stops at 8x for far away shipping friendly or not. I find this quirk dismissable and not so annoying. I'm more concerned with enemy ships and planes and those coastal guns which by the way TC never stops at all due to not having a visual of the guns.

Was this time compression issue ever resolved in either SH4 or the uboat expansion pack?

If you're having problems with this, might want to check the settings in:

My Documents\SH4\data\cfg\Main.cfg

Open it with your favorite text editor (just a text file)

Check the section headed with [TIME COMPRESSION] (near the top)

Personally I use:

TimeStop=0
RealTime=1
LandProximity=4
CriticalDamage=1
CrewEfficiency=128;1
AirEnemyDetected=1
SoundEffects=64
CharacterAnim=64
EnemyDetected=1
RadioReport=1
Particles=64
PrayState=1
HunterState=1
3DRender=64
Maximum=8192

The main differences between mine and default are:
I set all 3d and sound effects to work at 64x compression.
Anything that requires my immediate attention to drop me into real time, instead of 8x or whatever it was.
Raised the maximum TC

Especially check:
AirEnemyDetected (you've spotted an enemy air unit)
HunterState (you've spotted an enemy surface unit)
PrayState (you've been seen by an enemy)
