View Full Version : Renown and Realism
I was flipping through the Sh3 manual the other night (trying to find port info for the flotillas), and I came across something saying that the lower the realism, the lower the renown you recieve for sinkings and such. Personally, I find this fairly annoying, and am looking to modify this to remove it.
Anyone have any ideas on how to do this?
I dont know how to change this, but I play at 58% realism and I have no problems with renown, actually, I have too much renown, but that's because U53 is one bad Uboat. :arrgh!:

I believe you can adjust the basic.cfg to whatever renown you like. Work it out with whatever your realism setting is, so as it processes your renown at 100%.

Its not so much that I have a problem, its more that I dont seem to be getting enough considering what I've sunk. A few patrols ago, I sunk a small merchant, a tramp steamer, a passenger liner, 2 large cargos, a large merchant, and a large tanker for a total of 66,538 tons. I think I only got about 150-200 renown for that. Patrol after that, I sunk an Anson class BB. 100 renown. See my point here?
Also, I just flipped through the manual again, and it seems I was wrong about it being there. It would be in the community manual then, I'll see if I can dig up a link to it.

Would you have an idea where it would be? I looked through there but didnt find anything that would hint at renown.

If you've not already got it, you'll find a link to the GWX renown here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=104257&highlight=renown+raduz
Thanks for the link Nerazzuri, I printed it out and was able to figure out where the multipliers for renown based on realism are stored thanks to patrol records with SH3Commander. If this works, I'll post a fix tomorrow.
It's very easy to do this. All you have to do is modify the entries in the GameplaySettings file. This is in the folder Program Files... wherever you have SH3 installed... data\cfg\. Scroll down to the section [RealismPercentage]. There you will see the options you choose when going on patrol, such as limited fuel, event camera, noise meter, etc. Each line has a value and all the values added up give 100. All you have to do is modify the lines, taking the value from one line and adding it to another, depending on which options you leave on. If you play with limited batteries on but would like to use automatic targeting, deduct the value for manual targeting and add it to the batteries line. This means you could use automatic targeting [leave the manual box unchecked] and still earn 100% renown. Just make sure that the total adds to 100 and save your file before exiting. All you have to remember is to make any line you wish to uncheck in the patrol options a zero and add its value to the line for an option you check off. If you always play with one option on all the time, such as limited fuel, you could make the fuel line 100 and make all the other lines 0. That way, you can play with other settings off or on from time to time but always earn 100% renown.

That is what I meant in my first post, except you've explained it much, much better mate

Very well written Kaleun :yep: Possibly the clearest example I have seen in a long time
I did look at that, but works well with my fix, is that its a one time thing. For instance, right now I play with auto-targeting. If I were to turn it on later, then the realism percent wouldnt accurately reflect what is activated.
All you do is change the modifiers for renown once, and no matter what the setting is, you'll recieve full renown for your sinking. Provided it works of course. I havent had the opportunity to test against a merchant, because I'm getting DC'd at the moment.

I meant to mention earlier, the correct path is:
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX 2\data\Cfg.........Gameplay Settings :damn:
(Ensure everything adds up to 100)
Sorry about that Kaleuns :arrgh!:

Better to make it add up to 99%. At 100% you can't teleport home if need be; at 99% you can.
