Dear Muti,

I had a strange and vivid dream last night. It was 1942 and we were still at war. I was the greatest U-boot commander of all time. A sort of silly dream. I hope the war will not last that long and I can launch myself into show business. Of course, it will take a while to be able to stage my Shakespiere play Romeo and Hoochie Woochie.

Anyway, I just finished working up U-52 and will set sail tomorrow. While at sea, I will write some songs.

Your loving Son
J.S.B.

It gives me pleasure that today , the anniversary of the Infamous Treaty of Versailles, I have sunk the Glory of the Royal Navy, HMS Rodney.

Action report.
Although we had some sound contacts each one of them were sailing away at good speed. Today we investigated a contact that turned out to be several ships. after determoning it was heading 100, we positioned ourselves to attack at sunset.

My Hydrophone operator was asleep and a pinging destroyer woke him up. we dove to two hundred meters and the destroyer kept dropping charges , but missing.

The convoy was headeing straight for us. Lost in the noise of the concoy , I watched it's speed and came to persicope depth.

Rodnay was out there 40 degrees off the bow at 300 meters. I sent two magentic eels, which sunk the ship. (for everyone's info. Now BBs zigzag inside convoys

I'm curious do I get a medal for this?

Balz was born on 24 December 1909 in Shanghai where his father was German consul. His mother claims that an extraordinarly bright star shone over the city that night.
