I'm about ready to get in on some Dunkirk action, May 23 1940 style. Anyone ever done this? Anything to worry about beseides 30 meters depth under keel? Its foggy, 2 destroyers are in their pen, sailors drinking rum. What could go wrong? ...famous last words?...

I'm camped out 5 km from the port. I see at least 2 DDs at 10 knots patrolling close in. Im going to hang out and wait until May 25. If I can get in a few kills amidst the confusion and Luftwaffe attacks, I can slip away. Otherwise, this is suicide.

Oh man, i did it, once, in a type IX. Got a southampton class cruiser, but was caught by two Australian V&W's. I was unable to escape and in the end had to torpedo them both. It was hairy!

Also my PC couldn't handle the traffic load at anything other than 1x TC so it took hours and hours!

Watch out for the minefields. If i remember they are either side of the north port entrance.

He He He

Good Luck!

I wouldnt want anything to do with a V&W with only 30 meters depth under keel. And Minefields?? No way! I cant beleive they had time to lay any. Thanks for the info anyway. I figure I'm not going near that port entrance. I got within 2k of the lighthouse and it was lighting up the water pretty good, even in heavy fog. Not going to chance. Im hanging out until May 25, when the Expeditionary Force is getting out of dodge and Guderian's Panzers are close behind. We'll see how this goes. The invasion of Norway got me some nice tonnage, so we'll see if I 'live' to tell about this one. One thing is for sure, my soundman is always picking someone up, so time compressions gets stopped a lot. Im almost at the end of 5/23. I just have to time compress my way through the 5/24 and then the real fun begins. :hmm:

The Germans dropped plenty of mines in the waters around Dunkirk. They claimed quite a few ships, but less than they should have. A short time before Dunkirk, the secrets of the magnetic mine had been discovered, so the British were able to neutralize the threat of magnetic mines.

Unfortunatly for you, you don't have that ace up your sleeve!:dead:

Sounds like I need to go back and read some history. If the Luftwaffe are dropping these, then I dont want to be anywhere near this place! Who knows where I'll find one. I'll keep and eye out, if I hear prop-engines and the sploosh of water, then its probably time to leave. I play dead is dead and I really dont want to start over. My goal is 39-45.
