I for one would be interested in seeing a Deluxe or collector's version of the U-Boat expansion, at least with a map and a recognition manual. Other goodies that would be great would be some historic film footage, documentaries, or similar.

Cast your vote here for a Special version with added contents, and describe what you would like to see as bonus-:D It might give the Devs some ideas to suggest the marketing guys

Well, I'll pay an extra 5 bucks if they include Type VIIB/C u-boats. $7 if they include the Type II's as well. :hmm:

Hmm... Don't have much ideas right now... I guess a "SH4 : u-boote in the Pacific Ocean" pennant looking like a real ships pennant would have been cool. ;)

I not willing to pay for the expansion as is, let alone pay extra for a dexlue or collectors edition. Other than the obvious "Get as much money as you can with as little time and effort as possible," I fail to see why this is even being done. Only one German U-boat ever operated in the Pacific: U-862. I believe it would be a little hard to do a documentary on the Type XXI operating in the Pacific, don't you think. To me, it is a shameful attempt to milk the U-boat fanatics out of there hard earned money.

Still, it is too early to pass judgement on the add-on as is. But my outlook on it is rather bleak. Although, the add-on would get U-boats into SH4 and that would make it much easier to mod an Atlantic campaign.

As for suggestions, any of the following:
Playable Japanese submarines & campaigns
Playable British submarines & campaigns
German Atlantic campaign

My bad, it is not the Type XXI, but the XVIII.

This is not insignificant, and also allows the developers to go into new directions with the next game in the series.

I don't think it's likely that Ubisoft will offer different versions of the 'Add On'.

I don't think it's likely that Ubisoft will offer different versions of the 'Add On'.

From a financial sense, it doesnt make any sense to do so. Realisticlaly this add on is probably idealized as little investment for maximum return. I think what they're really trying to do, is make up for lost sales.

German Atlantic campaign

While I respect your viewoint and in some regards, have to give a nod--especially campaigns, I disagree with the U-862 being the only U-Boat in the Pacific. I remember at least 2 being sunk--1 by a US Sub and another by a Dutch Sub. And I can't confirm (sources not at my fingertips)

Think the main thrust of the U boat campaign in the add on are the operations in the Indian Ocean.

I'd pay more for enhancements for the Pacific campaign.(which I'm not gonna get):shifty: I would also love for maybe one of these days get an add-on for an American surface campaign in the Pacific and maybe that would give me some interest in an Atlantic adventure.:hmm:

I'm quite looking forward to the addons ability to give strategic commands to surface units. This could be a precursor to either a surface sim (DC2?) or a Doenitz HQ run the U-boat war type game as the next in the series.

Either way I'm very glad Ubisoft themselves have taken the decision to do their own addons rather than leave it in the hands of the infamous developers of "Seawolves" to "assemble" addons for SH4.

It's also good to see that Ubisoft have not assigned "our devteam" to other (infinitely more profitable) projects. Just today I read a bit of Ubi's annual report . Its frightening reading sales wise for PC owners as the consoles are gaining more and more market share each year:

XBox360 28%
PS3 16%
PC 16%

I'd pay more for enhancements for the Pacific campaign.

Modders are and will be doing more of this I am sure, lots of potential for growth in the Pacific :yep:

I think your said it all, a Deluxe edition would be nice.

A revised map and a manual detailing the new modes of play and actually explaining the multiplayer this time would be nice, but I think that should be incorporated in a regular edition. I dont feel the need for a deluxe edition of an expansion disc especially when the SH4 deluxe addons apart from the movie disc & recog manual were not much good. A notepad, pen and patch... wow and a lovely Typhoon class US WWII sub? on the front.

Don't bother with a deluxe edition unless it actually adds to the game experience. A strategy and tactics guide in my opinion in either video or printed format would be the best addition and let the devs design/write it not the marketing dept. The packaging last year was an insult to the detail and dedication of Dan, Mihai and their team.
