Hi All,

I engaged a 100T fishing boat. It took more than two dozens hits to sink it using "HE" rounds from about 700m. I have a couple of questions.

Does the boat take accumalitve hit damage, or Is there a "soft spot" that needs to be hit in order to sink it? Could it take 24+ rounds to actually sink that wooden tub?

Thanks,

Tom

Aim for the water line, that will reduce the number of shots needed. I've only ever had to use 4 or 5 rounds maximum to sink a fishing boat when using the deck gun. Most of the time I man the AA gun, switch to AP rounds and have myself a good time!:arrgh!:

I opened this thread ready to make a crack about "how many ships were sunk with deck guns!?".

Boy, did I get a surprise! A 100-ton fishing vessel? In real life shouldn't take more than a few rounds, even when not aiming for the waterline. I'd follow bookworm's advice - it works for him.

OP dident mention wether or not any mods were applied.

Also were all 24 rounds a 'hit' or were they just smacking the rigging and doing little damage ?

AP rounds at the waterline are quite effective.

Like bookworm said, aim for the water line and it should only take a few shots. I think my average for fishing boats is about 3 or 4. These are basically the only boats I use the deck gun on. Every now and then I'll surface to finish off a target but there are usually escorts around so I never get the chance.

I find a lot of merchants that are usually alone that I will take out with my deck gun rather than waste torpedoes. For fishing boats, it usually only takes 3-to-4 shots to finish them off.
