umm, not sure this is the right place for this topic but don't know where else.

I wonder how other folk get on with 'straight-line' graphics in SH3, or if it is just me that has a problem.

when I first ran SH3 ootb the rigging on other ships displayed as discrete little squares from any distance but right close up. Then I got GWX1.3 and that largely fixed the problem. However, I had to swap graphics cards as one of mine failed, and as I use SLI, I needed to get an identical replacement, but couldn't, so I went up a notch and got two Geforce 7600 GT 256MB.

Somehow the graphics didn't seem quite as good as previous in the straight-line department, and the sky, especially at night looked like badly painted scenery. I have tried the presets for SH3, but didn't see much diff, and tried to switch this and that on or off in graphics adjustment screen, not really knowing what was what.

Now I have GWX 2.0 on and the daytime sky is fine ( haven't got to night yet), but the railings on the bridge look like long broken dashes even quite close, and the barrage balloons are on strings of beads rather than a rope. Is it me? Should I get the very latest driver? Or is it something I can do nothing about?

Hiya!

What you need to do is to turn up the AA & AF setting within your graphics control panel.

In laymans terms:

AA = removal of jaggies (aka dotted lines/beads)
AF = quality at distance

These setting can be 'forced' by your vid card.:up:

AA and AF, Ok Danlisa, will tootle off and have a go. I guess I have to adjust until it looks right rather than whump it to max.
Thanks old bean :D

6 X AA
8 X AF

Should be do-able with your card. You might even be able to max it out but check your FPS when in game.

I maxed it out and all seemed fine and looked PERFECT, but I will try the settings you indicate as well. I have put them on notepad for future ref.

Thank you SO much - what a difference!:up::up:

Be aware :

If you make your AA settings upper than X4, you loose the sunglare :-? It's there since always.
