It is saying that your install is not a clean patched SHIII installation. You need to either patch SHIII to 1.4 or uninstall a mod. Have you followed the installation instructions to the letter?

Your basic.cfg file is not the stock 1.4b version, the size should be 69255.

Hope this helps.

thanks for getting you chaps.
sorry Danlisa i dont know what that means.
Tarjak i was patched to 1.4, dont know about mods - dont have any ?

what i have done is wipe sh3 et al, from my computer: sh3, sh3 commander, everything.

do you have a plan to deep clean sh3 away, are there hidden places i should check, for example, so there are no 'bits' left hidden.

thanks again

@ flag4

It means that your basic.cfg file, that's located in ...SilentHunterIII > data > cfg...is NOT the version that shipped with Stock SH3 v1.4b. It has been modified or corrupted.

@ dize

Have you checked the GWX files with the MD5 Mate? Follow Tarjak's link.

Actually, from the installers report, it can't find any files to check. Did you re-install SH3 1.4b?

Try performing the 'uninstall' operation from the SH3 disc in addition to what you've already done :arrgh!:

Maybe this should be on a different thread... but, is there a way to validate the integrity of a GWX 2.0 install? It appears that it all went well when I did it, and played some of the "school" exams... no problems... but I am always paranoid that something is not done properly and somehow missing some of the cool new things :)

I hate to even add to this; I've DONE this properly before, even had the instructions printed out to follow. But I lost those, and I am obviously missing something in my uninstall. Maybe in the registry?I keep getting the 'cannot verify' message after I uninstall/ reinstall SH3, then try to start patching. If anyone would please post the link, or instructions on the complete uninstall, I would appreciate it. Sorry; I'm not really a moron; I'm just missing something.:damn:

I'm glad some one started this thread, I too am having a problem or two.

By mistake I went streight into Explorer and simply deleted all SH3 folders, then went to My Docs, deleted the SH3 folder there, then did a regedit, opened local machine, deleted SH3 from there, I trashed the SH3 short cut, then emptied recycle bin, then restarted computer.

Then reinserted store bought CD into drive, started install process, this seemed to work eventually, then I tried to patch the game, successfully installed patches 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 but patch 1.4b would not install because it doesnt recognise the previous SH3 install.

Aaaaaagh what do I do, tried to find a new copy of patch4b, then had to work out if I had emea vers or US, I think I have emea, downloaded 1.4b again but got the same mesaage

Can some one help me out

Don't bother with the previous patches, go straight to 1.4b.

@ Rascal

There is no patch 1.3
Tis really 1.4

Right click the exe in the Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII folder
That will tell you the version

@dize

Looks like the installer isnt seeing SH3 at all
What op system are you running ?

I'm using US DVD and uploaded the v1.4b patch on Ubisoft website:
http://www.ubi.com/US/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=1873
SH3 says that it's patched to v1.3 but I'm sure it's up to v1.4b (check the new features from the manual) and think there's a difference between the US release version number and the EMEA one.
GWX 2.0 loaded fine and I've checked all the features I can from the 2.0 manual.

HI BBW,
Thanks for taking the trouble, I'm running XP2 any way I finally managed to install SH3 and patch to 1.4b Then tried to install GWX but ran into corrupted files with English battleships starting at Prince of Wales I think this may be due to a bad download so am trying to download from no3 until I get a successful install.

Lord I hope this goes well I've had almost as much trouble re installing the game as installing the new GWX mod.

Funny thing I had evenmore problems with reinstalling Medieval Total War 2 along with its new Kingdoms add on, in the end I gave the whole thing wasy I just couldnt get anythng to to work, and couldnt get any help from SEGA pity as MTW2 was a great game, god know what will happen with the new Empires when it comes out. At least you guys give custoer service.

A question does GWX2 feature the U-jagd manual targeting devise mod, or do you think it could be safely installed into GW2, I rather liked it when I read wbout it and am looing to do more manual targeting in future games

i'm assuming these are the instructions to which you referr in the link: Exploding British subs in the museum, complete with oil slicks.

Funny stuff.
