I'm getting pretty disgusted with this whole issue:

If these folks don't like it, then I say to them, "Go and live somewhere else. If you think it's bad here, try Libya or Sudan or <insert foreign country here>." :shifty:

"The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) calls upon the U.S. to improve its abysmal performance in these areas and to take immediate, robust action to bring the U.S. into compliance with its obligations under this vital Convention," the report said.
Sure, right after we get the illegals out of the country, curb our greenhouse emissions, elect a new President, feed the world, pull out of Iraq, yada, yada, yada...:shifty:

Does anyone actually listen to the ALCU anymore? They are an organization that has lost its cause. There will never be none, but for the most part, the US is pretty blind towards race anymore. The ALCU just needs to raise the issue because they are trying to stay alive in a world where they are not needed anymore.

SUBMAN, now that the US has started racial profiling, wouldn't you say things could be seen to be gettting worse in that respect?

Yes I think the ACLU is an anachronism as well. Of course, having the ACLU call for reform is no different than any other "socially conscious" group calling for reform...

Besides, if one is "racially prejudiced" it is a personal issue. All the litigation and legal rulings in the world won't change a persons mind and their prejudice will still find an outlet...

@Tchocky: A little racial profiling story from where I live. If this is "racial profiing" and it gets criminals off the streets, I'm all for it.

Resident a victim of racial profiling
I was appalled at the experience I had outside of Target.

As we were walking out of doors, two immigration officials stopped my husband and asked him for his ID; he was an illegal immigrant who was just walking out of a store and was stopped. My husband has never committed a crime and has no prior criminal record. Once the officers found out my husband didn't have permission to be here, they handed me his wallet, his wedding ring and put him in handcuffs. I was left on the bench outside of Target crying hysterically as I watched my husband walk away.

I can say my husband was a true victim of racial profiling. My husband is Mexican, has dark hair and eyes with a dark complexion. I am also of Mexican descent. The only difference between myself and my husband is my skin is lighter and I speak perfect English. I was not asked the show my ID by the immigration officials.

I am a U.S. citizen and truly appalled that some people can be so narrow-minded about the situations that families are put into when husbands who are the sole financial contributor for the family are ripped away, solely because they were victims of racial profiling.

I'm disgusted that the dairy owners aren't standing up in lieu of the recent "crackdown" and offering more immigrant workers they employ the option to obtain a work visa to be here legally. I also ask why aren't immigration officials "cracking down" on immigrants from Canada, and why isn't there a fence being built on our northern border?

People should focus less on making the fence on our southern border more complex to penetrate and more on how to build one on our northern border to keep out those illegal immigrants.

Interesting to note that one person suggested that ICE acted on a tip about this guy. If so, they may have "done their homework" and known in advance that the wife was a US citizen and not queried her. There have been a number of instances in the area in which I live where citizens have tipped off ICE to the locations of illegals.

I absolutely applaud the efforts of local law enforcement and ICE in identifying, apprehending and deporting these criminals. Personally I think the wife should face legal charges for knowingly aiding and abetting her illegal husband.

Not to worry, she'll probably qualify for Welfare based on her Hispanic looks before a White in the same predicament would...
