I really must agree with that video. Recently, with all the crap going on with Iran (my home country), I've become more and more proud of my heritage and religion (I am also a Muslim). That's why I've posted this video. I'm tired of having to hold in my details because people might feel uncomfortable around us Middle-Easterners. Hence, I'm practically declaring it from the roof of my home.

Take pride in who you are, and don't be afraid to follow that pride.

Yeah it's too bad your country is under control of extremists. I wonder where Iran would be today if Khomeni and his gang never came to power.

I have to wonder that too.

Well, maybe there's a reason for it.

The buildup for 2012!!!

Nah just kidding...

I feel for you SH, there is a lot of mistrust for muslim people nowadays. I can only guess that it would feel similar to when I was a kid and people would automatically judge you negatively by how you looked, except your an adult who isn't going through a rebelious stage.

To wear Islamic head-wear like the burka would immediately advertise your religion and due to tensions people would obviously treat a female differant. IMO that just makes them braver for keeping their beliefs in the face of a judgemental and hypcritical society.

I saw that a while ago and thought it was damm awful.
I don't particularly disagree with the message, but the presentation just isn't to my
taste at all.

Moderate muslims are not a majority anywhere, but i welcome everyone. Just wish we could send the rest back the other way, i dont think they would accept mass migration of westeners in Middle East and Africa. Why should we accept theirs? Anyone care to explain?

Well, a revolution becomes more probable when you covertly mess around with a country's government, reinstate a monarch etc.
Blowback is a funny thing.
The current governance of Iran isn't ideal, but the US attitude seems to be a continuation of the same ideas that have shaped this situation in the first place.

Revolution isn't a bad thing in itself Tchocky. However when the regime that takes over turns out to be far worse than the one it replaced then that IS bad.

The current governance of Iran is more than just not "ideal", it is likely to get that country into a war someday soon that not only it won't win but might just end up causing the destruction of the entire region. That's a little more serious than not being "ideal" dontcha think?

I think that Iran without Khomeni might have been a first world nation by now. That is after all what the Shah was working on, womens rights, public eduation, various modernizing projects etc. All that ended in 1979.

If only the religous teachings of Islam as covered by Muhammad, Quran, Hadid, Sharia, would reflect that filmmaker's easy attitude. Unfortunately, he does not seem to represent these teachings at all, and even violates them.

anyhow, it is an example for why I usuualy do not talk about "Muhammedans", and the people and individuals, but "Muhammedanism" - the ideology. Many people do not live by it's rules, and even violate major parts of it, but still demand to be seen as Islamic nevertheless, which is a clear contradiction, like christians violating Jesus' ethics and advise, but consider to be Christians nevertheless because they join the crowd at the church at Christmas and Eastern and at that opportunity put some money into the collection box. If I attack and criticise the latter, I still must attack and criticise the first, too, of course. Why does anyone wish to be seen as a believer of a given ideology, if he violates it in essential parts, and does not care for it...!? This question goes to all of them.

nice movie, yes. But where does it lead beyond the initial laugh and fulfills the author's probable intention? Knowing or not, he does not correct mistakes about how Islam is been seen - he (probably unknowingly) only helps to deceive people over it's grim face, when he tries it to paint as smiling. The movie thus would be more believable - if the author would be representing something else, and would not insist on being seen as Muslim.

Agreed. I think the only point the movie is trying to make is that you don't have to look at Muslims, or people of middle-eastern origin, and instantly think 'lions and tigers and bears oh my! potential suicide bomber!'. In doing that, it is a good movie, although, like Skybird, it won't change my opinion on Islam itself, which I might have a bit more respect for if it did not treat women as second-class citizens.
