Career crashes

Hi, I just installed patch 1.4 and TM 1.7.1

everything works fine, I can load my old campaign, play the missions, alls good. BUT when I hit "career" from the main menu i get an automatic CTD... over and over again. Not TOO annoying at the moment, but when I finish my current career... I'm stuffed. Any ideas whats gone wrong and how to fix it?

PS... does anyone know whats wrong with the SH4 forums on Ubisoft? I get a blank page reading "system error" when I try to access them.

You are trying to start a new career?
Suggestion: Maybe finish your current career and delete/move all your career save game files then try to start a new one?

I have bad news and I have worse news. I had a second CTD party with 1.4 and the new mods. I uninstalled all the mods and started up, loading my career. CRASH!!!! That's the worse news and you've already got that one.:down:

Here's what I ended up doing. First I moved the mods and captain's girls:up: to the desktop. Then I uninstalled SH4, saving the save games:yep:. I reinstalled, repatched to 1.4, reinstalled JSGME, ran JSGME once to make an empty mods folder, moved my mods and captain's girls folders back into the SH4 folder, reinstalled TM, RSRD, RSM mods and started up. Perfect!:rock:

The bad news is that you'll have to reload your career at your last in-port auto save. Any at sea saves are not useable. I embarked on cruise 14 of my career after the above and had no problem.

ah, another case of reinstalling everything.... hmm. well, what I will probably do in that case (since my current career is perfectly playable) is finish it, screenshot my final crew, my log book and my tonnage record for sentimantal value... then reinstall the game doing what you said with JSGME. lets hope it works, I want to do a career with those makeshift Narwhal class they are so fun :)
