Okay, so I have some time over and want to start a new SH campaign, but I can't decide what game to install and play first, what do you recommend, SH3 or SH4?

Some things I read about SH4 annoys me, such as the new depth model which seems to be a "Die or don't die switch" rather than the gradual damage of SH3.

Any tips would be helpful, how is SH4 with mods also? I mean 1.4 just came out so I guess there aren't alot of mods compatible with that?

Thanks for any helpful input!

Well, SH3 is mastered when GWX is installed with it. SH4 is still in the works to become mastered. So, either load up SH3 with GWX or learn and grow with SH4 which is to have a add-on next year that will include the German boats. Even the, the SH4 environment will need some work. Just flip a coin, heads SH3, tails SH4;)

Ok thanks for the tips, did some reading so I decided to install both, play SHIV 1.4 without mods until GWX2.0 comes out(Which I am told is this month sometime?) and then play SH3+GWX until more SH4 mods are out, thanks for the reply!

The sub damage model in SH4 isn't as extreme as some would lead you to believe by their comments. If you take leathal damage you will not last long despite all your efforts. Minor or moderate damage which is aggressively managed by you is survivable. It will take game experience to learn to do this under stressful circumstances. Some people just don't like the Pacific war.

Yeah, install both. SH4 is way prettier, and takes you to excotic locations, and SH3 + GWX is a well oiled wet-pants ride with less impressive graphics.

Install both, i went with one but missed the other so would delete that and install the other only to miss the last one :rotfl: So i got both games installed. SH3 and trying out the NYGM mod for the first time. SH4 and a few mods - Trigger Maru 1.7, RSRDC, Warships retextured.

SH3 when you don't get an EXE. ERROR when you do fresh install for GWX2 and no one has a real clue whats causeing it or how to fixit.

Sh4 with latest patch and any of the large mods has no problems so far.

And I said so far. I'm getting a little sour on ubisoft products.

Starforce protection! :yep: :nope: That Exe error is starforce not happy with sh3.exe. Remove SF reinstall SH3 do not restart PC after SH3 does the check instead click cancel & update SH3 to 1.4b then add the sh3 fix. Then install GWX2.
Worked for me this way but i wasn't installing GWX2 i was trying to get SH3 to run :rotfl:but once i did the above then installed some mods, got no exe errors. (it took me 7 reinstalls of SH3 before i tried the above if only i had did it first )

Otherwise it could just be a GWX2 problem but im more convinced its Starforce!:nope:
