OK...you've all had a chance to breeze thru it. I've never hosted a poll, but I really would like to know if now's a good time to invest in a major printer Ink Company!

The manual will be constantly updated, so it's up to you really.

For example, the manual in the final GWX 2.0 release will be v2.03, whereas the versions you are able to get now are v2.04. The version changed in about 24hrs.

Regardless what you choose to do, the versions that are available from the GWX Website will be the most current ones.

Hi!

Print a 600+ page manual that's already in PDF format with lots of internal hotlinks? :hmm:

I don't think so! :D

Is there a forward schedule of further planned updates ?
If yes, can you advise the chapters please?

Anyway:  and thanks for all your admirable amount of work

No Fecking way will I, and I will tell you why. I got an ink printer and the cost of ink in the UK is a Fecking rip off.

Same in the U.S.

The cost of ink/printer cartridges is absolutely STUPID!!! :stare: :stare: :stare:

When I'm sure the manual is 'finalized' (currrently it remains a living document) ... then I will print it out.

I wonder how long it would take to print the GWX manual? How many hours!

I don't have any real schedule, other than to fix typographic and other errors that people find over the next few weeks.

Anything beyond fixing small errors will likely focus on "filling in the corners" of things that we've done in GWX but which I just haven't had time to document in "Das Buch." Yes, even with 600+ pages there's stuff that is not yet documented.

Thanks! :)

What I may do once you release the very last final version is to take it to my printers, probably work out a lot more cheaper and faster.

I wonder how long it would take to print the GWX manual? How many hours! Well, it depends on your Printer speed. With 600+ pages in the current edition:Six pages per minute: ~100 minutes, not counting loading the document into the printer's memory

Nine pages per minute: just over 60 minutes, not counting loading the document into the printer's memory.

;) Exactly what I was thinking Steedman. Even printing it all in greyscale (which would take away a lot of enrichment) would surely burn up at least one full black ink cartridge...hiring a printer to do it would probably be cheaper!

:o And 600 sheets of paper or 300 if you print both sides... but it takes a lot more time load the documents.

NO print !! :nope: perhaps could be better a laptop with the pdf loaded :hmm:

I am taking the manual to Kinko tomorrow and have them print it in black and white and bind it.I am one for reading it when I want, not sitting in front of my computer.

Cheers,

Why print an large electronic document that is meant to be read on a computer?

To read it when...
1. The wife is using it to find a receipe...
2. The kids are on it updating their "my space" site(s) or chatting with friends...
3. The hard drive crashed or the file gets corrupted...
4. The wife's cat won't get off the keyboard, and if you yell at it one more time, the wife will throw you out...

Think of all the poor trees you have to cut down for that massive document:smug: lol, I just don't want to spend $25 worth of ink and paper to do it. Besides, I love pressing ctrl+f to find things on Adobe documents...

Don't forget to plant a few trees in yer back garden to make up for the ones your gonna have to chop down for 600 pages.
Changes could occur on almost a weekly basis.
If you want to store it, far better on a disc :arrgh!:

Maybe not, as I don't have enough paper. I'd rather save it to disk (or on a pendrive), so I can read it when I need to.

I voted no, as I usually just keep everything I can on my HDD - saves [expensive] ink cartridges, as well as paper (although paper is much cheaper and I have a lot of unopened packages at home at the current time). Alt-tab is just as good as printing if one needs to check something during the game, IMO. But of course, that is an individual choice for each player.:yep:

I can't imagine what it would cost me to print it all plus buy a big enough binder!!!!!!

JeffG, I'm surprised it only cost 58 bucks at Kinkos. I tried to print a manual sometime ago and was well over a hundred bucks.

This is a test to see who has even looked at the manual. Maybe a page or two but not the whole thing. I use the Laptop.

It would be a great idea, but printing 600+ pages its a craziness, a better idea is to minimize the sh3 and check the manual in pdf if i want to review something

I voted yes, but that was before I actually looked at it. :o

I might, at some future point, print it out.

At the rate of 10 pages per month.:sunny:

Yep. GWX 2.1 will include an updated manual.:yep:

That being said, even having a hardcopy of the version that comes with 2.0 would be impressive.
