I like how they say that credit card debt accounts for $3K per household. According to my calculations, that is $3K per person in this country!

$3,000?

With Americans weighed down by some $900 billion in credit card debt _ an average $2,200 per household _
Are they using long or short scale?
and it's an AP article

I'm confused too

I'm confused tooIt should read per person. We only have 300 million people in this country (including the illegals) so dividing 900 Billion up between them results in $3K per person. Not household. Stupid reporters. They can't even say the correct number right - how do they even come up with $2.2k? 900 bill / 300 mill = 3K.

I'm not surprised. The "MS" part of "MSNBC" was the same company that stopped a multi-billion $$$ guided missle frigate dead in the water with a "Divide by zero" error a few years back...
