She was a true pioneer of aviation and flew until the 70s.

Yup, another true pioneer of both aviation and emancipation - and, as far as I know, not a fan of the Nazis - goes on the eternal flight - RIP.

That is true. She rejected to form close ties with the Nazis, although these tried to pursue her. After the death of her husband (wikipedia said she walked away in protest when Nazis held speeches at the funeral), she disappared for much of the remaining Nazi era for the sake of her children, and appeared not before after the second world war again.

First women to fly around the globe, second woman to fly from Europe to Australia, they said in TV news. she said that she turned even a walk in the park into an expedition to discover at least something new.

She now maps the undiscovered country. Fair winds and always enough fuel, Elly!
