Intercepted an outbound convoy, closed in to indentify targets, when to my supprise I spotted a Greek flag on the closest vessal. Its aug 1940 so if I am not misstaken they are still neutral, Italian invasion took place in october. What happens if I take the greek ship down, will I loose renown anyhow. I mean he is not lit up and in an enemy convoy.

SH3 does not care if the ship is inside the convoy or not. If you hit it you will suffer the penalty.

Yeah. These convoy hiding neutrals are a bother.

Hi!

In Real Life any merchant ship that accepted escort from a belligerent warship (i.e., was in an Allied-escorted convoy) was a legitimate target under the Hague Convention; however, Silent Hunter III does not distinguish between escorted and non-escorted so you will suffer the "sank a neutral" renown penalty.

It just means you have to identify the nationality of any target before launching your torpedoes.

I set the neutral setting in the basic/cfg to 1 and use self-discipline to not sink single neutrals, that gives me no penalty if they're in a convoy.:arrgh!:

I do the cfg edit myself, and leave singles alone.

But no mercy for neutrals in convoys. That is of course after the good targets are down.
