Hey guys, I am in a bit of a self-made conumdrum right now. You see, I am only like 20 renown points from being able to vacate the very small and very cute Type IIA 'boot, and I am on a patrol. My grid was AN16, and this is Scapa Flow, a place that I am very familiar with. I go in thinking that there will be alot of big ships, maybe even the Revenge, for me to sink, and it turns out that there is nothing but 1000T destoyers there. I have wasted (i.e. sunk) three eels on three DDs, but I have only gotten like 4930T out of the deal. Should I save my last two torpedoes in hopes of coming across some big tonnage to down, or take out the DDs that have a chance of finding me? I feel if I go back to base with just 8T in the bank, that this would have been a failure as a patrol...since one big ship could equal that.

Also, I am just playing the regular game, no mods.

my recommendation would be to save the eels for something bigger... and preferably a merchant... DDs blow up nicely but between you and me, they arent worth much renown OR tonnage.

Use your eels defensively if you have to.

assuming this is 1939 or early 1940, I would work my way south along the eastern British Coastal waters in hopes of running across a merchant or two on the way home. avoid run ins with planes and escorts.

return to base physically (ie dont hit escape and select return to base until you are within about 20 miles of home port) and there will be an extra 100 renown points in it for you.

Good luck!
