I bought SH4 when it first came out and experienced the gameplay through the first couple of patches. The game had problems, we all know that. But now, months later, I re-install and decide to see what's doin with the mod scene. I install TM 1.6.5, RSRD v112, ROW, NSM, and start a new career.

After two patrols, all I can say is - awesome. The difference is night and day. The game feels so much more alive. It looks better, it's more dynamic, and therefore more immersive. That, coupled with patch 1.3 and 1.4 on the horizon and I'm right back into this thing. I went from enjoying the game but feeling disappointed by its lack of polish to _really_ enjoying it. I even find myself using much lower TC and sticking to real-time during battles. The experience has been excellent.

Anyway, I just wanted to publicize my appreciation, for the modders and for the developers for sticking with it and not letting the game die. Thanks!

Remember all of the naysayers and Negative Nancys who came here when the game was released to sling mud at the game and scream about class action lawsuits?

I think we're getting to a point where we can say to them "Nyah, nyah, told ya so!" :p

Captain Cox actually did a bunch of these in the early days, he did some with a horror theme, wish I could find them.

Yes, indeed the modders made the game so much better. I had to get used to the realism of Sober's Super Mod collection but I got the hang of it. In fact I'm trying to do a few if I can and share with the community. I started with adding some emblems on the sub's bow and see how that pans out. FOR THOSE ABOUT TO MOD (AND HAVE MODDED) WE SALUTE YOU!
