Yes, I've seen it, bought the DVD and then watched it to death some more.
An excellent film. Ignore what the critics say about it being disjointed and not sure what it wants to be.
Cage gives a fantastic performance, perfectly cast as the immoral protagonist.
The opening title sequence "life of an AK47 round" is unique and unforgettable.
The photography and locations are excellent.
The story is excellent, and probably not to far from many truths.
The supporting cast do their jobs splendly.
A very cleaver critique of modern day morality, as we all chase the American dream.
Cage's monologue throughout the film is brilliant and very witty at times.
Finally, it's very thought provoking.
If you haven't seen it go out and rent it!
One of my favorite films of recent years.

I'd give it a 5/10.....and I'm a big Cage fan
I own it too, actually. I happened to think it was quite good, although some might say it is somewhat left-leaning in its ultimate message (NOT trying to start a political flame war here). It is mostly concerned with Nicholas Cage's character (Yuri Orlov) and his personal struggle to develop a personal identity which he can feel proud of - this turns out to be a career as an arms dealer, (as "he is good at it," not because he enjoys his great financial success). He isn't evil or a bloodthrist killer or anything, but becomes wrapped up in this life and seems unable to avoid the temptation to continue it, even though he realizes what he is doing is wrong, and even if there are repercussions...I won't say any more about that because the last thing I want to do is ruin the movie for you. Basically, I would classify it as a good drama (not the crappy romantic kind ) instead of a thriller or action movie, although there is some interesting political and military aspects to it as well.:yep: Overall, it is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I do recommend it.

I have a special edition version it shows the making of the film and cut scenes, the row of tanks you see as orlov is going around the base acctually belonged to an arms dealer the director said and i quote " i need these back by friday as i am shipping them to liberia"
90% of the weapons used in the film were also real, and whats more chilling to note is that the cost of the real weapons was less than to buy immitation ones!
I liked the satirical and gritty narrative, even if the story was somewhat contrived. Decent film but no Oscar winner in my book. 3.5/5

I just love intro sequence as I said earlier.
Maybe I'm a bit slow but I can't think of any other films to have done something like that.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

One of the Hitman games has something similar with a Colt .45. The second one, I think.

I really enjoyed watching this movie. I agree that Cage was perfect in this role. Didn't leave me feeling all good inside afterwards, but every once in a while I like to watch a powerful movie like this.

Cage is one of my favourite actors anyone seen him in "Matchstick Men" about two con men, had me fooled right to the end. Lord of War is a good film all his movies are except for Ghost rider :rotfl:
Great film, love it, very well put together, very well made, heck, even the other half thought it was good, and the opening sequence is, as has already been said, unforgettable.
