Resuming a saved game, calm seas, no contacts, as soon as the game loads, there's the sound of breaking glass, the lights go out and there's 15% knocked off the hull's integrity. Then when I go to the bridge, the seas are empty, nobody in sight. In BF83 so it's unlikely it's mined.

I'm at a loss here!:nope: :nope:

Mine does that sometimes or ill get a message sonar destroyed upon loading and I just end mission and go back (start over) to the saved game and start it again...seems to work...
I think it may have to do with the mods I play...and adding them in a certain order with JSGME after Ive been in career and saved...
Perhaps its the great SH3 bug?

Opps forgot to add...your not saving submerged right? should be above the water when saving!

If your boat has sustained some damage before you saved, say from aircraft bullets, the engine seems to apply it right after loading, hence the disconcerting breaking glass, flashing lights thing. in most cases you can then continue as normal,

I tend to see this as a warning that I should be a bit careful with the boat going deep and such

Its like a stock bug that crops up but eventually it just goes away...at least thats been my experience with this bug which no longer bugs me...

That's the wierd thing, there was no damage on the way out and I was on the surface when I saved.

Must be Moby Dick!:hmm: :hmm:

or A very heavy wave :D these things happen, you could see it as a sign of shoddy maintenance or a component failing during patrol, these things happen a lot, just part of the game

sink them all!

I've had the same thing happen to me on numerous ocassions. Don't worry about it, just get it fixed and continue your patrol.
