Looking for a 24 inch monitor for gaming. The Samsung 245BW looks pretty decent. Anyone have this? Any other recommendations? What's the most important thing I should be looking for in the way of specs? Is a fast response time indicative of less ghosting? I heard Dell makes a pretty good one but they've given me some pretty poor customer service in the past and I'd rather not deal with them again if I can help it. Thanks in advance.

I've not seen any ghosting effects with the 3ms monitors. Samsung seems to be good bang for the buck in monitors although they don't do so good with hard drives.

Hi Reno
I certainly can’t say it’s the "best", but I am using a Gateway FPD2485W TFT LCD.
Its native res is 1920x1200 and I am very pleased with its performance.
I play IL2 Sturmovik 1946, MOH Airborne, COD 4, and Red Orchestra Loc on Modern air combat. All play very well.
It has a fast response time but I can’t remember what it is although I was aware of what it was when I bought it as it was of importance to me.
Hope this is helpful to you.

There's a monitor discussion going on in General Topics right now as well. No 24-inchers yet, but Samsung is getting quite a few mentions.

The samsung is one of the best, I have a Benq 22in WS, its nice I just do not like the little dark grey area at the top and the bottom of the screen. My folks got a 24in Samsung after I talked them into it, they love that darn thing.

Thanks for the replies. Best price found so far is at Circuit City for $329.99 after rebates but one of the rebates was only on for two days and expires today. I think I'll take the plunge if they still have them available. Local store's not open yet.

Why bother with a 24 inch monitor . . . when you can upgrade to a 40 inch plasma TV?

That's what I did . . . and now I can't get my wife off the computer because of it :damn:

I'm very happy with my Samsung 244T.

Here is someone's explanation of the difference between the 244T and 245BW:

"As far as I can recall, all samsung BW models are TN film panels. TN films have a notoriously horrible vertical viewing angle, and are 6 bit with dithering giving you 16.2m colors. The benefits are cheap production price and fast response times. The T models are S-PVA true 8 bit panels giving you the full 16.7m colors but are a bit more expensive. Response times are higher but honestly not very noticible. For more info go google TN, S-IPS, and S-PVA."
