Started a new career using TM with a new construction and took the USS Grouper on her first patrol off Honshu. Ordered off Honshu and I decided to take a look at the anchorage off Yokosuka. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a Yamato class BB just sitting there. I've played about 4 careers and this was the first time I've ever seen one. Fired all 7 remaining torps I had on board and luckily they all hit with no duds. She settled towards the bottom and rested on her side. I still can't believe my luck. It was the best patrol I've ever had. If you want you can check it out in the Patrol/Stories thread.

In that shallow water, they'll just raise her and refit her, but at least you've knocked her out of commission for a few months.
So says the voice of reason. Hee hee hee....:arrgh!:

Nicely done on the sinking. I am currently hiding out under a crippled Yamato waiting for her task force destroyers to leave and return to protecting what is left of the task force.
As a follow up does anyone know where to find a good schematic of the Yamato? I want to cheat a little and direct my three remaining torpedoes to where they will do most damage. I have holed her three times on the starboard side, twice near to the forward gun turrets (torps set at 20 - 25ft depth) and once near the rear turrets , same depth. I also hit amidships, same depth but did not hole her with that shot.
Thanks for your assistance

Raise 70.000 tons of iron from the bottom of the sea itīs not easy .:hmm: also the damage is too extensive for a underwater repair.
Sweet Kill mate, Played with all TM mods and have not ye run across the infamous BB:up:

Early war will find Yamato anchored as the OP stated. Off Yokosuka docks.
I've found her once or twice sitting there.

Thanks everyone. I honestly could not believe my luck and then I was just hoping that 7 torps would be enough and that hopefully their would not by any duds. Luckily about a minute or 2 after the last torp hit I noticed she was settling a little and then got the "She's going down" message. It was a dream patol with about 93,000 tons (it would have been an awesome patrol even if I hadn't found the Yamato).

I so wish i could remove that target destroyed message entirely. Just to keep ya guessing, "did i get it or not? Maybe ill put one more fish into it to be sure"

Yeah mebbe ya should Duci ... but with the NSM it may take a couple hours before ya get it now. ;)

If you can ever get it that would be really sweet. As far as putting another torp into a target just to make sure, that would have killed me as I put every torp I had left into her. While I was waiting to get that message for about a half second I was thinking of surfacing and putting a few rounds into her with my deck gun (I said for a half second:D ). With the Yamato though I know that would be like trying to stop a tank with a pebble. The Japanese sailors who weren't trying to save the ship would have been laughing at me.:rotfl:

Seen 'em?! Oh sure, I've seen them. As I type this, we've got a Fuso, a Kongo and Yamato passing about 320ft overhead, not to mention a gaggle of cruisers and DDs.
Fat lot of good seeing them does me - me with no torps left, all of 11 AP rounds left for the 4" and some drums of 20mm. Guess I'll throw some foul language their way and see if that does anything :damn: :damn:

Very true. Remember how long it took for the USN to right the Oklahoma, in shallower water. Much smaller BB.
Granted that ship wasn't considered as critical as a Yamato would have been. I suspect they would have been much more proactive if it was an Iowa class that had been sunk.
I suspect the Japanese would have scrapped her on site.

Impossible.
She's at least a hundred feet below the surface. 70,000 tons, even just a few feet below the surface, is a major pain in the ass to try and drag up to refit. Plus, I don't think anyone really wants to sift throught the wreckage and corpses inside. Also, damage dealt to her is too extensive. More than likely, she'd fall apart IF you were able to right her again.

I've tried. I can change the message, or remove it, but the problem is i can't get rid of that timestamp that precedes the message. This makes removing the message pointless, because the instant you get a timestamp in the chat window, you know its going down.
