View Full Version : What are your plans for SH3?

When i get the final release of GWX 2.0, i plan to play a simultanious series of final careers.

Once the careers are completed, i will place the manual and map inside the case. close the case, and place it - alone - on the highest spot of my games shelf for all to see where it shall be retired permanently.

SH3/GWX will remain on my hard drive where i will only play it whenever i get the rare itch to meet my enemy at sea.

No other submarine simulation shall grace my hard drive - on this computer anyhow - until the next great subsim is released... whenever that might be.

what will you do?

I'll play sh3/GWX for some time, try to complete one decent career until retirement or being sunk.

Then I will first go back to my first love, Morrowind and play it through to the finish for the 1st time. I've been playing it since it was released and never completed it.

Then, and only then will I take up SH3/GWX again and I will find me a Revenge BB and sink it, because in all that time, playing and testing, I've never even seen one...:nope:

after that, who knows

I switched from consols to PC gaming almost 3 years ago. And yet I still get the urge to break out old Play Station 1 (Panzer & Allied General) and Super NES (Perfect Dark) games. I have no urge to try out newer games or upgrade to a new consol every year or two.
So I expect that will continue with the PC. I play at the lowest possilbe limits for SHIII / GWX1.03. Thought about SHIV but figured my machine couldn't handle it.

So I expect to keep playing, getting a bit tired of it / stop playing for a few months and then getting back into it.

No change, in other words :88)

Yes that's me GR! ;) Penny's official GWX 2.0 policy after release: "Play the motherf**ker!" :rotfl:

Anyhoo... basically GWX 2.0 may be the last hurrah as far as Grey Wolves and SH3 are concerned, but that is not the end! No reason why SH3 needs to slip quietly away into the night. I guarantee this game will go strong for some time yet.

your absolutely right penny... which is why i plan to keep it on my drive to play it occasionally, who knows maybe 2.0 will blast new life into the game the same way 1.3 did?

all i can say is i have been slacking off in playing SH3 lately, i guess real life has been in the way, or perhaps it was the recent purchase of CRYSIS and the FSX acceleration expansion pack... i guess time will tell where this game sits with me in the future.

The proof of the pudding GR is in the eating as always... and I don't think the SH3 gamers will be disapointed personally speaking.

GWX 2 will make GWX 1 and GW 1.1a look like broken down has beens. Pale shadows of their former glories! Believe that player!

If and when I leave the submarines behind...

I'll likely climb back into my Albatross for the dawn patrols over no-man's land.

I miss the sound of the engines... and flying long missions in real time.

I miss the whirl and flash of chopping an enemy off of a friend's six... and coming home with empty guns and a shot-up torch-rag.

You could almost smell the wet grass and engine oil in the morning.

Agreed on the first post. then, onec I have retired SH3, I will go to my room. There, in the back of my closet, is a dusty flight stick and a DVD burned copy of the Mediteranian Air War mod for CFS3. I feel the need to get airborne once again, and leave the earth to fight in the sky again.

Too long have I skippered boats, almost long enough to, when someone menchens an "Immelman Turn", to have to think on it for a few seconds before realising what it is.

And you eat with that mouth??!!:rotfl:

Myself, I don't play games for the games, so flying machines and sailing machines are about all I ever look at. I'll be playing SH3 and SH4 careers until I drop.

Also hoping to finally get CFS3 and OFF, and play some WWI and WWII flight sims, plus Flight Sim X; but the subs will always be on my playlist.

My plans are to buy SH3 (again) when the new GWX is released. Then I plan to leave Kiel on a sunny morning with a light breeze, and hope the uboat-addon for SH4 is out by the time I get back. Then I will try out the uboat-addon, and marvel at the modding possibilities, and go out on my next GWX-patrol and hope a VIIC-mod is out by the time I get back. And so on.

I also will be playing until the next (crosses fingers) great U-Boat sim shows up.

Although it had some features I liked, I'm certainly not going back to SH2.

If my rig can handle GWX 2, I'll do what Penny says, play the mother. If it can't, I'll play the mother of the GWXes.

Some day might get tired. But that is waaay out there, still.

Well no plans of "retiring", I hardly play SH3 enough to even retire! lol

I've been off and on playing SH3, works keeps getting in the way

...And my motorcycling

But mainly I think it's because I've fallen in love with 'Total War' again

I have always sh3 installed in my computer and i will play it a lot of time at least until Sh4 have an atlantic campaign. sh3 and sh4 are complementary.

I have a series of simulators in my PC , for example dangerous waters, il-2 sturmovik, FS2004, orbiter and more.:yep:

I did play Red Baron 3D (and Red Baron original release a hundred years ago) with the Hell's Angels superpatch, and flew with Jagdstaffel 5 online for two years, before being swept away by SH3. The link in my post above is to my retired pilot's page.

I like to play Over Flanders Fields on occasion... it is by far a better sim, though it will likely never have the organized online squadron following and tournament structure that Red Baron had for so long... and still does to some degree.

I`ll be playing SHIII+GWX for a good while to come, looking forward to GWX 2.0, I like Kpt. Lehmann, have a favorite Albatross D3, and like to switch to tight twisting dogfighting action, providing the wing stays on. Puts:up:

I think my SH3 will last a pair of years from now on.

Also playing FSX...another endless game.

And turning on my Xbox from time to time.

I will definitely keep playing. I have no reason whatsoever to turn away from this game. It's No. 1 with me and will remain so for some time, I expect.
