Somehow seeing the Flying Dutchman in the bright light of day just ain't right. It should be at night in a spooky storm with seawolves howling. :p

That's cool. Dynamic campaign is much more important.

I seem to remember people posting that SH2 had a 'Love Boat' type cruise ship that you could run into from time to time.

I never would have seen it but sonar reported it as a warship. I listened but couldn't hear anything but they insisted something was there so I went up for a look.

Horrors!!!

If I may ask, what area were you in?

Yes you may ask ;)!

I was just off the North East of Luzon--less than 30 nm in fact.

I seem to remember a post on ( with pics I think? ) subsim about "The Flying Dutchman" shooting her cannons at the enemy. Anyone confirm that?

Anyway a very cool "Easter Egg" Devs.

I just saw the Flying Dutchman for the first time this past weekend. It was in the Luzon Strait in August '44. I had just finished sinking a bunch of Japanese shipping and the patrol aircraft were out looking for me. As I was watching the Dutchman through my 'scope, I observed a Betty make a bombing run on her :o

The bombs fell long, so I can't say what would have happened if they had fallen accurately :-?

:arrgh!:

I have seen her once. I was good up to the point I heard voices that said, 'Come too, prepare to be boarded. We are taking the booty.' I went flank and never looked back:o

I saw the Dutchman again last night, plying its bounty of horror just off Davao Gulf this time. Still a terrifying experience, needless to say. If I don't report back from this patrol, you'll know what happened :shifty:.

Most disturbing! Once again our Teutonic brothers have another advantage over us at sea. They had quart bottles of becks beer onboard. On a US boat, what amount of medicinal ethyl alchohol did the boat's pharmicist mate have in the locker to treat the crew with a proper RX for mental health? Probably not enough. I am told the TMs found thier own solution to a dry navy. V/R all! CL
