NOD32 3.0 A Real Game Killing Machine (require new AV program)

I thought this was a great AV program up until I picked up a couple games yesterday; Ship Simulator 2008 and Trainz 2006. Both of these games are awesome except they don't run very well because of NOD32. This AV is preventing certain modules from opening even when I disable it. I later discovered that it's affecting my iTunes software as well.

Now, there's no chance of me reinstalling Norton 360 if I can help it. So if anyone can give me a suggestion, I'd much appreciate it. If all else fails I'm simply going to have to install 360 into an OS like Vista Basic so there's less weaving involved.

I guess you could always use something free like Avast. I have been using it for a while now and like it.

The new Symantec Endpoint Protection program is awesome! I went to the store and was given advice to use it by a guy who is a die hard gamer. Apparently it works like previous Norton products but it's way more efficient and uses little system resources. It comes with everything included in Internet Security.

My biggest gripes about Symantec was how it integrated itself into your system and how it consumed tones of system power. SEP is fast with a sleek gui and simplistic control console. SH4 runs perfectly with it running as well. Now I don't have to worry about my files being deleted or programs failing to run.

I recommend (as a Snr IT engineer) to my friends, who want free AV, either Avast as mentioned earlier or Grisoft's AVG - both are very good. If you want to pay for your AV software, Kaspersky constantly wins AV reviews and field test in magazines.

I use Mcafee Enterprise Edition, as with anybody in IT - i nicked it from work!!

Hmm...well NOD32 never messed up for me, but yes you could try Kaspersky or Bitdefender instead, those are good AVs. As for free ones, AVAST as mentioned by the other users , is the one to go for.

I think it could be your PC man, You had trouble with Nortons 360, yet ive never had the problems you mention about, now your using NOD32 and got problems. Download the free AVG antivirus run it for a few days and if you get problems with AVG as well then its your PC not the antivirus software.

I have all NOD32 now and never have seen a problem yet. It is such a tiny footprint too.

You must have done something wrong? Dunno what to tell you, but NOD has been a lifesaver many times over.
