Holocaust and Germany today is somewhat of a strange story.
But I will leave it at that because any public statement from a german citizen regarding that topic will 100% be misinterpreted.
Suffice to say that I can talk about that topic with the Jews I know, but not with the Germans.

Germany as a nation isn't guilty of this crime now anymore than modern England is guilty
of the Catholic purges.

Wouldn't there be a time limit for compensation claims? Has there been any previous settlement or payment over this. I don't think their chances of success would be high if this were the case.

Officially, over 63 billion have been payed by the German government alone, in various different proceedings and agreements over the years. Plus massive economic bonusses, plus bonusses for delivery of military hardware, often for free in fact. Plus a hard-to-quantify sums of money from private initiative.

Several times there were official statements being given by germany and Israel that "this time" it would be the "last time" for such claims. And always there have been additional claims coming later.

I do not minimze what has happened around 70 years ago. But there must be a time limit. Enough is enough. The young germans being born after the war cannot be held accountable for infinate time for deeds they have not done. Israel now threatens to sue germany for compensations of people who have not been victims of the holocaust, but were born after it, on the ground of having suffered from a sick social envrionemnt by the parents being victims. i do not want to be rough, but by that pattern you can find excuses for demanding compensation until the year 3000. they also want compensation for things that maybe would have been there, but were not, and chances not being taken by people becasue of the Holocaust - taking it as quantified evidence that they would have realised such assumed chances for sure without the holocaust. Israel also says that it had to deal with higher costs in it's national budget, because it has invited so many immigrants from Russia now pressing the national budget. Okay, but what has germany to do with their decision to invite more people to come than they can handle? next time they mess up their economy anbd create deficits - Germany again should "compensate"?

I admit it has started to lose me. I refuse to always live in the past. A past that has been a dead past for me from the very beginning. Again, no minimizing of the Holocaust is meant, but there is more important threats and dnagers to the now living people, germans and Israeli, Jews and non-Jews, in the present and future.

and in the main, the Holocaust is an issue between the people having lived in that time, victims as well as perpetrators. I cannot have a communication with anybody telling me that gwrmans need to accept a collective guilt. That is irrational, and unreasonable. It is also an injustice in itself, and discrimination. Maybe it represents some thinking patterns from ancient scripture.

I think most of you know by now what I think of scripture. :down:

P.S. BTW, when talking about financial compensation: what is the current price for one human life? 1000 euros? 1 million euros? 10 billion euros? What is the material value of non-material value?

If immeasurable compensation, and apologies (how do you aplogize for something like the holocaust anyway?) has already been paid, then what's done is done. Anything beyond that, and your just digging. Time marchs on, and it waits for no person, or generation, meaning the plantiffs in such case need to pick up the pieces, and move on already. This is a mental problem, not a financial one. No amount of money can make you do that, you just have to want to do it.

Maybe the survivors in Israel should ask there governemnt for money and the German government has paid them, as well as all the discounts on military purchases?:hmm:
