hi hunters,

firstly my apologies if this post should not be here. i have contacted HQ but it was recommended i go to another thread, and i've been there and am still baffled. an example was offered but i could not get that to work....:damn:

regarding my signature picture:

1. can not get the picture up
2. have just updated Flash.
3. have been to image shack - apparently i have to do this ( ?)
4. in my sig. i have got as far as [quote] + [quote] i have no idea what this means. the red cross has a white box around it. something to do with URL's...
5. the picture i would like is in 'my pictures' i have sent that to image shack...
6. i get the elongated box at the top to type in url of image...
7. i do this - but i don't know what i'm doing or how to......continue

maybe my picture is to big... also, HQ said something about IE7 ? browser - i would not know about this.

my brain is jammed

could any of you Kaleuns assist ?

many thanks
flag4

think i need someone to hold my hand as i cross the road...

Hi flag4 - no problem at all. We all started once with stuff like that...

Upload your picture to imageshack. Go to their website and click the "Search" button and navigate to your pic in "my pictures" and start upload.

The window updates after some seconds and offers several URLs.
Take the one at the bottom and copy this URL - mark it, rightclick -> copy!

Now come back to subsim and login. Go to "User CP" and edit your signature.
In the field for your signature insert "" then paste the URL from imageshack and type "" (both without ""!) For "[" press keys alt gr and 8 ; "]" is alt gr+9
Save your settings.

You can also look at the sticky "How to post a screenshot? Instructions inside" (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=107399)...it's more or less the same story for a signature-image.

thanks to Mittelwaechter and Paajtor for responding.

i will have a go - following your instructions and post back the results.

i honestly had no idea what to do, but your post seems to have cleared a way through,

thanks again

This is the url you need to put inside the code http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/6863/uboat1os9.th.jpg (http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=uboat1os9.jpg)

Or use Photobucket and just copy and paste the code which has the [IMG] tags on it already.

Clear the code you currently have in the Signature box.

Then at the top of the box there is a small square icon which looks like a pair of hills with a sun. This is the insert image button. Click this button and when asked, paste this :

http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=uboat1os9.jpg

into the box and click ok.

Make sure you don't end up with 2 lots of HTTP.

thanks Danlisa

i have to say iam not very good at understanding img's, codes, and where they go.

i understand if this is somewhat painfull to witness for those who do it second nature...

i feel like a blind man with hammers...

but all this is completley new to me

No worries mate.

The button looks like this:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/smartdark/insertimage.gif

Just click it and paste the URL of your image (the one Dowly put up).

Well, it should show this pic?

http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/6863/uboat1os9.jpg (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/)

Strange things happen. It takes 2 mins to show in the browser.

Maybe use photobucket instead.
