Hi guys,

I've got a bit of a hardware problem and I'm not sure how to solve it or what's causing it, because I've never come across something like it before.

I've just installed four new Corsair DDR2 1Gb ram sticks. I did have two Kingston PC2-4200, and have now gone with PC2-5300.

Anyway, after installing the sticks it made most (not all) of may games stutter, right from the opening splash screens. Medieval 2, Serious Sam 2 and the Crysis demo for example, but not Call of Juarez.

After opening my case I noticed a faint buzzing/squeeking eminating from the computer at regular intervals, the same intervals as the stuttering on screen. I tried removing 2 of the ram sticks, thinking the PC can't handle all the RAM, but no difference.
Listening more closely, I think the faint squeeking/buzzing sound is coming from the graphics card, but I can't be sure. It only comes when I open a game, it's silent on the desktop. The sound it constant in games that don't stutter.

Is it the RAM? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm going to install the old RAM again to see what happens.

My Hardware BTW:

ATI X1950XT 256
Intel Core 2 Duo E6320
Gigabyte 945P-DS3 Motherboard

You're on the right track with re-installing your old RAM. When encountering odd issues such as these, the best tactic is to use the process of elimination. If the problem persists, then try pulling different parts and testing without to see what happens. Also, if your new RAM is the culprit. remember to test each stick in every slot to be thorough. Hope this helps ya a bit.

Ok, Unfortunately (or fortunately) it has nothing to do with the RAM. Same thing happens even with my old RAM. :nope:
