Well they do make D cell converters where you can slide a AA into them and put them in a flashlight or something that requires D cells.

Logic tells me that if a product needs D Cell in the first place, it needs a much higher mAh than a simple AA can provide. Dumb idea. 'D' cells don't exist simply for clobbering people with mag lights. :p

Wasin't there a battery that was bigger than D? I recall seeing them when younger but I never knew what could of used such a thing, it looked like someone took a brick, smashed in two and then put two springs on top, anyone know what I'm talking about?:hmm:

Luckaly I found a box of those batterys in my shed or I would have tossed it after the battery it came with ran out. I ran out of these batteres about 6 months ago and I got rid of the flashlight.
They are called Lantern Screw Tops and are 6 Volts.

My parents had one of them. It had an addaptor which ment you could gang 4 or 8 D batteries together to run it.
Nothing like a planned use by date to make you upgrade!

That massive battery is only six volts?:nope: a nine volt is a quarter of it's size.
One of these 6 volters?

I still use these for my camping torch which lasts ages and is waterproof. Eveready Dolphin they're called.

Voltage doesn't mean everything. That's just what it outputs, you'll find the 6 volters last for quite a while.

I know rechargeable batteries don't last as long for example my radio takes four AA batteries if I use rechargeable ones they last anywhere from one and a half weeks to two weeks, regular batteries last me four to seven weeks. So what's more harmful? all that recharging I have to do or throwing out the dead regulars.
