hi hunters,

was wondering what speakers to buy to beef up the sound effects of sh3gwx.
at present i have bog standard-came-with-pc issue that sit up on the desk infront of my face - volume control on one.

would'nt mind something to fill-out the sound a bit more - i love the whoosh of the torps leaving........, any suggestions are welcome.
i'm not wealthy so i cant go high: but maybe a pair for somewhere between 50-150 pounds, spread over infinite monthly payements.........!

cheers

I use a good set of headphones instead of speakers, I find them extremely atmoshperic and an excellent gauge of where and how far away DC's are exploding.

I'm using Creative Labs 7.1 surround sound setup. Paid about 60 bucks for it as a refurb. Works Great and it's nice to hear them coming from behind or wherever. I'd have to say 5.1 does the job as well as 7.1 though.

I've found the sound more immersive since I switched to headphones.

Headphones are awesome; I like playing the game with 'em.

I'm using creative 5.1 (gaming edition). The surround sound is just great. I would have continued using a headphone as it gives the best immersion but it's bad for the ears if you like to have long gaming sessions. :88)

thanks you chaps,

i had'nt considered earphones - might give them a go first, even though my patrols are long. i like the idea of the sound coming around from behind.

i was struggling the other night to listen to the hydro's and thought its about time to upgrade - i'm leaning up n over the keyboard my with ear to the speaker. this makes me laugh when i think about someone finding me in this position.
are you alright - are you stuck, do you need help ?

just had a thought that's got nothing to do with speakers.

would'nt it be a good idea to have an alarm clock that could wake you up with

ALAAAAAARRM !!!!

goodnight.

Headphones are good if you don't want to disturb the neighbours but nothing beats having a reasonble surround system like Creative Labs, 5.1 or 7.1 with a good subwoofer! Makes the desk shake when I get DC'd.:arrgh!:

The money you will spend on a Good 5.1 system (or 7.1) will get you a Great headphone, but I must say I prefer a Good surround system over headphones any day, I donīt like wearing headphones, I can move around as I please and the only drawback is disturbing the neighbors/other members of the family, not too much of a drawback here.

Oh yeah, make sure you have a decent soundcard, not just the "normal" with only one output plug, a 5.1/7.1 system wonīt work on that.

Just check the back of your computer (in rare cases it might be at the front), if you see less than three 3.5mm holes a 5.1 system wonīt work (two or three holes is normal for a non surround card, one output, one microphone and sometimes one input).

I'm using Creative Labs 5.1 surround sound speaker setup. with 5.1 Silverline Headphones, the sound you hear from them sounds the same as if coming through the speakers.
