Commander question

Greetings all,
I only started playing SH3 recently but since I have I think each day has been a bit brighter knowing I can return to my boat once I get home every night. This game feels like it was designed for me; truly my ideal video game experience, being a Submarine buff and all...

Ofcourse the experience was improved once I started playing with GWX (amazing work guys, truly great stuff). Anyways, I was thinking about downloading Commander but I had a couple questions.

1. Can I begin using Commander mid-patrol?

2. Can anyone break down what Commander really provides in maybe a short paragraph?

you can set up a profile of yourself as Kaptian, birthdate place of birth etc...
Gives you various career options tailored to your likes.
different options for : hull integrity, crew rank translations of english or other language.
various fatigue settings ...none...some...a lot...
water clarity, wave height.
change time compression values
ability to manage your crew...this is one dandy feature...

Just get it. You will like it...

you can install it now, but don't use it unt8il after you come in from your present patrol & dock.

there is a FAQ & manual for it so read it & all of your questions will be answered...
