SHIII Commander has a model effects settings either malfunctions, or malfunctions+ sabotage, most likely your just having mechanical problems with your engine, not sure if it models worn out boats, or not.

well ya i DONT use sabatoge so any help?
When it happens just after surfacing it's because the starboard engine is being used to charge your batteries. This is normal stock behaviour. If you need a spurt of speed you can override using your CE menu to change to standard propulsion instead of recharging. Just remember to switch back to recharge when you are done putting on speed so your batteries do actually recharge at some stage.

U-Boats are like Indiana Jones....it's not the age...it's the mileage. ;)
